I have never really studied the White's in NB; and I am not really familiar with them. According to the 1881 census of richmond Parish, Carleton Co., NB, Jacob White was b. USA ca. 1833 and was Irish; while his wife, 'Roslenda' was b. NB ca. 1843 and was Scottish. Roslenda was Church of England; suggesting her family had been in NB for some time; while Jacob was F. Baptist; probably Free Christian Baptist. This mildly suggests that Jacob was from Maine, and the possibility should be considered that he was a member of a New Brunswick family who settled in Aroostook Co., ME. The IGi has a Jacob White, b. ca. 1833, of Hodgdon, Aroostook Co., ME; s/o Jacob and Asenath White. The Pedigree Resource File also names a Jacob White of Hodgdon, but makes him a son of Jacob White, Sr. and Martha Emeline Estabrooks or Jacob, Sr.'s 2nd wife _____ Smith. Perhaps Asenath was the Smith wife. Jacob, Sr. was b. NB ca. 1801, and d. Hodgdon 24JAN1883. He was the s/o William and Elizabeth White. !
William White is given as a s/o Thomas and Dorothea White, and to have been b. NY ca. 1759; suggesting they were Loyalists. William d. Hodgdon 8MAR1843.
Martha Estabrooks was b. 19MAY1808 and d. 19APR1889; so perhaps she was the 2nd wife. Certainly the surname, Estabrook/Estabrooks, indicates an NB origin.
In the 1850 census of Hodgdon, Jacob White (b. NB ca. 1802) and Emeline (b. NB ca. 1808) had children: Charles b. NB ca. 1825, Hezekiah b. ME ca. 1831, Jacob b. ME ca. 1833, Amanda b. ME ca. 1835, Mary b. ME ca. 1837, Albert b. ME ca. 1839, Gideon b. ME ca. 1841, Turney (son) b. ME ca. 1845, Marietta b. ME ca. 1847 and Emeline b. ME ca. 1849. There were a large number of White's in the area; presumably related. For example, in the next household was Henry White (b. NB ca. 1805) and family; presumably Jacob, Sr.'s brother.
It is beyond my capability to fully research this family, but there appears to be a fair amount of on-line information easily found. See:
