GARDNER, Elizabeth May - Gone from our lives but never from our hearts - Elizabeth May Gardner at the age of 70 years on Sunday, December 18, 2005. Predeceased by darling granddaughter Maggie. Leaving to cherish a lifetime of devotion, her husband, Reg; five daughters: Mona (Geoff) Brinston, Christine (Ted) Hussey, Carolyn (Len) Smith, Pam (Otto) Smith, Angela (George) Smith; grandchildren: Arlene (Rob) Brinston-Conway, Scott and Mark Hussey, Travis Smith, Doug and Robyn Smith, Aaron and Murray Smith; great-grandchildren: Parker and Charlotte Brinston-Conway; sisters: Mabel Dearing, Phyllis (Wilson Wells), Margaret (Arch) Moore; brothers: Evelyn (Betty) and Gordon (Sadie) Edwards and their families. Flowers graciously declined. Donations in her memory may be made to H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center. Friends may visit at St. Andrew's Church, Sunnyside. GOSSE, Annie Jane (nee Parsons) - Passed peacefully away after a short illness surrounded by family and friends at the L.A. Miller Center, December 18, 2005, aged 100 years. Predeceased by parents: James H. and Elizabeth Parsons; husband: Moses Gosse Jr. 1977; sons-in-law: Josiah Kennedy, Raymond Lawlor and Lawrence Hiscock; daughter-in-law: Marie Lawlor Gosse; grandson: Stephen Gosse; sisters: Isabel Parsons, Gertrude French and Elizabeth Clarke; brother: James Parsons; brothers-in-law: Bertram Gosse, William Gosse, Martin Gosse, Richard Gosse, Joe Drover, Lionel Squires, Jack French, George Clarke and William Trico; sisters-in-law: Violet Parsons, Edith Trico, Lenora Squires, Susan Gosse, Effie Gosse and Marjorie Gosse. HORWOOD, John Wallace - Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, December 18, 2005, after a brief illness, John Wallace Horwood of Beachy Cove, aged 55 years. Leaving to mourn wife Denise; children: Sam, Sarah, and Ben; mother, Ida; brother, Charlie (Ted); sister, Janet; uncle, Harold (wife Cornelia); aunts: Ruth, Viola and Rita; uncles: Harvey and Earl; and other relatives and friends. HYDE, Mary Frances (nee Brady) - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Complex on Monday, December 19, 2005, Mary Frances Hyde, in her 99th year. Born June 24, 1906 she was the only child of John and Margaret (Rice) Brady of Red Head Cove, CBN. Predeceased by her parents; husband Andrew, February 21, 1971; her daughter Theresa (husband James Kavanagh); her son John; her step-daughter Margaret (husband Clarence North). Leaving to remember her life are daughters: Mary Hogan (Jerry-deceased), Lillian Peckford (James) and Irene Power (Edmund); son: Ronald (Marilyn); daughter-in-law: Mary Hyde; grandchildren: Lillian Nash (Don), Brenda Abbott (Clem), Eric (Bonnie) Hyde, Kelly Pope (Bob), Andrea, Courtney and Meaghan Hyde, Jimmy (Anne Marie) Kavanagh, Dale (Theresa) Kavanagh, Philip (Lynn Ann) Kavanagh, special grandchild: Andy Kavanagh, Grant (Vanessa) Peckford. OLIVER, Mark David - on Sunday, December 18, 2005, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, our cherished loved one left all his pain behind. In the presence of his family and friends, Mark took his last breath and passed peacefully away. Mark David Oliver, age 38 years. Left with fond and loving memories his loving wife Dee Dee; his beautiful and brave sons: Michael, Scott and Daniel; his devoted parents Glenda and Norman; his dedicated sister Jennifer (Glen) and special niece Carly as well as a large circle of family and friends. Upon Mark's request, cremation has taken place. PENNEY, Edna Kathleen Bell (Garrett) - On Dec. 19, 2005 a wonderful life came to an end. Edna, 81, was the cherished wife of Jack for 46 years until his death Jan. 2, 1992. Mom loved her daughters, Lynda (Dave Parsons), Mount Pearl and Donna (Sam Hancock), Port Blandford. She was the proud Nan of Chris and Carolyn Parsons, Krista, Stephanie and Janelle Hancock and Grammie to her great-granddaughter, Cassia Parsons. Dear sister of Nellie Blandford, Frank (Betty) Garrett and Austin Garrett (deceased). Also leaving to mourn sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret Wicks, Evelyn and Ray Penney, Bea and George Penney, Allister Greening and Bernice and Ches Penney. The loving care she received from the doctors and nurses at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville was appreciated by all members of the family. Cremation has taken place. RIDEOUT (Sigrist), Carolyn Ann - 44, Conception Bay South, NL, died at home, December 19, from pneumonia after a six year battle with aggressive Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Helensburg, Scotland, the daughter of Ruth and Jerry Sigrist, Covey Lake, Lunenburg County, NS. At the age of seven years Carolyn was diagnosed with Lupus Erythematosis but, with determination, she overcame the limitations of a chronic disease and was active in Brownies, Girl Guides and as a volunteer at the Bide-Awhile Animal Shelter while living in Dartmouth. She graduated from Prince Andrew High School in 1980. Carolyn started University and took various accounting courses by correspondence. She graduated from Halifax Career Academy and held several term positions including one at the Halifax Herald. Before moving to Newfoundland in 2001, Carolyn lived at Masons Point, NS and was active in St. George's Anglican Church, volunteered at the schools her sons attended, and taught reading in an adult!
literacy program. Carolyn was a wonderful homemaker, an excellent cook, a keen gardener, and an expert at many handicrafts. Carolyn will be missed by four family cats: Verni, Lucy, Sally and Teddy. She is survived by her parents, husband Terry and sons: Matthew (17) and Tyler (13); sister: Cathy (Bridgewater, NS); brother: Michael, Noreen and their children (Dartmouth, NS); Aunt Mary Fleming and family (Ottawa); Uncle Don and Betty Sigrist (Manitoulin Island, ON) and family; and father-in-law: Warrick Rideout (life-long resident of Long Pond, NL) and his surviving family. Carolyn was predeceased by her grandparents Casper and Hazel Sigrist and Reg and Nellie Delany, mother-in-law: Janet Rideout and sister-in-law: Donna Orian. The family want to thank special homecare workers: Colleen Reid, Pamela Morgan and Jessica Whittle who took such good care of Carolyn, especially Pam who was there the last few weeks. SUMMERS, Chesley - Died suddenly at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, ON, on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at the age of 56 years, Chesley, loving husband of Donna Norman, beloved step-father of Candy and Dennis Hussey, Amanda Norman and will be fondly missed by step-grandchildren, Kaiden and Madalynn. Chesley is survived by son Chesley of St. John's, best friend Peter Warwick; brothers: John (Irene), Fred (Trudy), both of St. John's, Ed of Kitchener; sisters: Mary (John) Metcalf of Clarenville, Peg Foley (Kay Harding) of St. John's, Olga (John) Shields of Toronto, Marie (John) of Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Carol (Woody) Hann of Scarborough.
