In response to John's request, I'd like to say hello to everyone on the list... I'm Diane Britt from New Hampshire, a "rookie researcher" (just got into genealogy 1-1/2 years ago, but I'm hooked!), looking for my Rankin ancestors in Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth, and Arcadia, NS.

Hugh Rankin is last known ancestor, who married Adeline McLaren. They had Roswell Blake Rankin, b. 26 Nov 1858 in NS, who married Clara M. Roberts, b. 14 Sep 1862 in Glenwood, NS. Clara's father was Aaron Roberts.

Their children were Roy F. Rankin, b. 24 Nov 1884 in Arcadia, NS, and Harold Duncan or Donkin or Donald? - (different middle names on different documents!) Rankin, my grandfather who I never met and don't know much about, b. 08 Aug 1887 or 1890 or 1891? - (once again, different dates on different documents!) in Yarmouth or Annapolis Valley, (same reason!), NS. The family emigrated to Mass. in 1899. Harold was a fisherman in Gloucester, MA for many years.
