MacPHERSON, Roderick J. - Somers Road, Antigonish Co., died September 12,
2002, at home. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Roderick John
and Sarah (MacLean) MacPherson. Rod attended Lower South River School and
graduated from Morrison High School, Antigonish. He served in the Canadian
Air Force, retiring after 25 years of service. He worked for a number of
years with Lindien Trailer Sales in Ottawa. For the past 10 years he owned
and operated MacPherson's New to You on Taylor's Road, Antigonish County.
He is survived by his wife, Ann (MacEachern); daughter, Carol (John
Yarnell), Ottawa; sons, Rod (Janet), Ottawa; Brian (Laurie), Calgary;
stepson, Gordie Gillis (Christine), Truro; stepdaughter, Stacey Brooks
(Paul), Ottawa; sister, Mary (Leo) McCarron, St. Andrews; brother, John
(Effie), Sydney; Lewie (Edith), Dartmouth; 10 grandchildren; 25 nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by infant daughter, Debra Anne; sister, Kay
(H.M.) MacDonald; brother, Colin. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in
C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral will be held
10 a.m. Saturday in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish. Burial in St.
Ninian's Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be
made to the Palliative Care Society, Antigonish.
