BENOIT, Louis Joseph - 75, Pomquet, Antigonish Co., died January 19, 2005,
in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Pomquet, he was a son
of the late Leo Joseph and Alice Margaret (DeYoung) Benoit. Louis was
manager of the Pomquet Co-op Store, where he worked since age 15 years. He
was also manager of Nash Credit Union at the time of his death. He is
survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Gladys Myette; daughters, Anita
(Bill) Tulk, Heatherton; Helen (Bill) McGibbon, Abercrombie; Mary (Rick)
Bouchard, Heatherton; Sherry (James Walsh), Westville; sons, Jim (Linda),
Pomquet; Charlie (Pat), Pomquet; Eugene (Angela), Antigonish; Joey
(Jennifer), Pomquet; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters,
Martha MacLean, Massachusetts; Yvonne Doiron, Pomquet; Adele (Henry)
Delorey, Pomquet; brothers, Charles (Josie), Sudbury, Ont.; Fred (Adele),
Pomquet; John (Betty), Pomquet; Bernie (Theresa), Pomquet; Gerard, Pomquet;
Leo, Pomquet. He was predeceased by one son and one daughter. Visitation
will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, on Friday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Ste.
Croix Church, Pomquet, Rev. P.J. Baccardax officiating. Spring burial in the
parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha's Hospital
