Hello everyone,
I am seeking information on Ann MacGillivray and her descendants. Ann first married Stephen (Neil) MacNeil and had three children. Based on her obituary she later married a Hector MacNeil. I believe that her second husband Hector was my great-great grandfather who married four times. I believe that she was his third wife. One of her sons settled in the Antigonish area. Is anyone connected to this family? I am trying to prove that she was married to my Hector MacNeil.

Thanks, Vince MacNeil

Ann MacGillivary’s Obituary

Thursday, February 23, 1899 Antigonish Casket A deep gloom was cast over the quiet district of Iona by the death of Mrs. Hector McNeil which occurred at that place on Saturday morning, February 18th. The deceased, who was the sister of Rev. A. F. McGillivray P.P. Boisdale, was in her 53rd year of her age when the grim visitor death made his appearance. A kind and affectionate wife and mother, a truly Christian neighbour , who was ever ready to administer a helping hand to the weak, a sincere and devoted Catholic she has gone to reap the reward of a virtuous life. Those who followed her to her last resting place attested to the appreciation in which she was held by her friends and neighbours. Her bereaved husband and children and her sorrowing relatives bore our heartfelt sympathy in their great loss. Mere human sympathy however is of little avail, the spirit alone can soothe their grief. Strengthened by the reception of the last sacrament and soothed by her kind ministr!
ations of friends, she quietly breathed her last. May her soul rest in peace.
