PEITZSCHE, Rose Anne "Pyche" - 69, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Autumn Crest Senior Citizens, Abercrombie Road, died Friday, February 9, 2001, at the Manor. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Beatrice (McCarthy) Emberley. Surviving are daughters, Judy (John) Raniowski, New Glasgow; Brenda (Pat), Windsor, Chance Harbour Road; Rose Marie Peitzsche, Burlington, Ont.; sons, David, Toronto; Bill (Rhonda), Trenton; Joe (Vivinna), Burlington, Ont.; grandchildren, Christopher, Shalyn, Ryan, Michael, Steven, Crystal, Juan, James Gerald and Lucas; great-grandson, Jordan; sisters, Helen Campbell, Cambridge, Ont.; Sarah "Sis" (John) Euraire, Theresa (Jim) Richardson, both of Mississauga; Beatrice (Dick) Wade, Ponolka, Alta. She will be sadly missed by her cat Fluffy. She was predeceased by her husband, James Ainsley; infant daughter, Sandra Joyce; sisters, Margaret Keagan, Doris Platts, Georgie Thebault; brothers, Bill and Joe. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, burial in Hillside Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

PREISS, Eric Sr. "Dudes" - 82, Shubenacadie, Colchester Co., died peacefully February 9, 2001, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Frank and Louise (Muller) Preiss. He graduated from Kings College in Windsor, N.S. and he lived in Halifax but spent most of his life in Shubenacadie. He operated a mill in Shubenacadie and Elmsdale and later Preiss Radio and T.V. Sales and Services. He had a tremendous love for playing his piano and all types of music. He spent many hours teaching and playing pool with some of the young people in the community. Survived by son, Donald (Maggie Cassidy), Shubenacadie; daughters, Margaret (Keith) Edgett, Consecon, Ont.; Helen (Dave) McDonell, Shubenacadie; grandchildren, Randy, Debbie, Sherry, Darren and Stephen; Cathy, Troy and Paul; Darrell, Stephen and Maven; Sean and Heather; great grandchildren, Gavin, Eric and Michaela. Predeceased by his wife, the former Doris Maltus; son, Eric; grandson, Michael Preiss. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, all in the Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Burial will take place in the Camp Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch, Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice.

ANDERSON, Roger Alphonsus - Age 88, of Roseway Manor, Shelburne, formerly of 45 Blair St., New Glasgow, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at the Manor. Born in Guysborough, he was a son of the late William and Carrie (Morgan) Anderson. He was a baker by trade retiring from the O.K. Bakery in Stellarton. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are son, Joseph (Laura-Ellen), Shelburne; daughter-in-law, Leona Anderson, California; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by wife, the former Catherine E. King; son, Bill; sisters, Elsie, Mary; brothers, Roscoe, Edward. Visitation 3-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Regis Halloran officiating. Burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to The Arthritis Society or Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.

ATWOOD, Evangeline "Vangie" Mae - 67, Centreville, Shelburne County, formerly of Greenfield, Pictou County, died February 10, 2001, at the Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born at Stoney Island, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Flora (Atkinson) Ross. She was a member of the Shelburne County Garden Club; involved in sheep farming; raised the first flock of Jacob Sheep in North America. She is survived by her husband, Howland; sons, Delma, Cornerbrook, Nfld.; Ross, Lorne, Pictou Co.; Christopher, Wellington, Yarmouth Co.; brothers, Randall, Malcolm, Oliver, Stoney Island; Allen, Sudbury, Ont.; sisters, Helen (Fred) Blades, Clark's Harbour; Jean (Ike) Koopmans, Langley, B.C.; grandchildren, Peter, Paul, Mark, John, James. She was predeceased by son, Howland Jr.; daughters, Adrienne Laurel, all in infancy. No visitation by request. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakvale Cemetery, Clark's Harbour, Rev. Shaun Hatfield officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Oakvale Cemetery Association.
