MITCHELL, Robert Benvie "Bob" - 77, 50 Clairemont Ave., Stellarton, passed away Sunday September 7, 2003, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Mountville, Pictou Co., he was a son of the late James and Kate (MacIntosh) Mitchell. He had been a resident of Stellarton all his married life. Bob was employed as a conductor with the CNR, retiring in 1988. Bob was also posted in England during the Second World War. He was a member of the Abercrombie Golf and Country Club for over 40 years, was an avid sports fan and loved to travel. He was an adherent of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. Surviving are his wife, the former Lois Wilson, Stellarton; daughter, Gayle (John Robert) Sobey, Greenvale, Pictou Co.; son, Robert "Bob" (Marilyn) Mitchell, Stellarton; grandchildren, Kirsten LaCasse, Christopher Sobey, Jana Skelton, Lindsay Sobey, Rebecca Mitchell, Jonathon Mitchell, Christine Idy; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Tena MacBeth, Riverton; Ella MacDonald, Sydney; Mae MacDonald, Sydney; Kay Hartigan, Sydney Mines; brother, John Mitchell, Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Hughes, Janet Townsend; brothers, William, James, and Don. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Maritime Region.
