COAL MINER IS KILLED

Suffers Fracture of Skull While at Work

WESTVILLE, Dec. 16 - Death claimed a young Westville miner tonight, when
Milledge Hale passed away at Aberdeen Hospital having been removed there
by ambulance this morning, following an accident at the No. 5 mine (Acadia)
of the Intercolonial Coal Company.

He was engaged in timbering, and was struck on the head by a falling "tree"
and believed to have received a fractured skull and other serious injuries.

He was attended by Dr. P. O. Bagnall and his name was placed on the danger
list as no hope was held for his recovery at the time of the accident.
Born in Westville 35 years ago, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Hale
and Mrs. Hale. His father was killed in a mine accident in 1917.

He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Dooley and three young children.
His mother, one sister, Mrs. Ernest Cooke, and a brother Reuben all in
Westville, and a brother John, Providence, R. I. He was a member of the
Westville United Church.
