First, once again I would like to say "thanks" to Sue for the wonderful
postings
from the Ottawa Free Press etc.

Secondly, for many years now I have been searching my CUMMINGS line ( first
settled in the Papineauville area in Quebec, with many moving about to
various places in Canada). In the last couple of postings I have noticed
the CUMMINGS
names re deaths and the mention of CUMMINGS ISLAND.

Could some kind lister tell me where I might learn of the origin of the
Island (how did
it get it's name etc.) Where did the Cummings originate from that settled
in the
Carleton - Ottawa areas ?

My 4 x great maternal grandmother - Catherine CUMMINGS b. 1789 married John
HILLMAN b. 1788 and they had 12 children. I have found much on my HILLMAN
line, but nothing on CUMMINGS only that Catherin'es parents; Stephen CUMMINGS
and Salley DAVENPORT.

Many thanks to anyone that may be able to help with my quest.
Kind regards,
Dorothy
