Looking for information on Charles Hawley and his spouse: Mary "Polly".
In 1842, at Malahide Township, Elgin Co., there is a Mary Hawley, a
widow at S Lot 29, Concession 5. She is referred to as Polly in her
son's (John's) marriage registration.
Thank you in advance, George Shaw

The children of Charles Hawley (Abt. 1811-Bef. 1842) and Mary "Polly"
---?--- (d: Aft. 1842) , married before 1831, were: 01) Daniel Hawley
(Abt. 1831 in New Connextion, Upper Canada (Ontario)-13 Dec 1864 in
Malahide Twp., Elgin Co., Ontario) and married Ann "Leona" Pressey;
02) John H. Hawley (Abt. 1834 in ..., Ontario- 07 May 1901 in Malahide
Twp., Elgin Co., Ontario and married Phoebe E. Corporon; and 03)
Joseph Nelson Hawley (c1838 in ..., Ontario 16 March 1868 in Malahide
Twp., Elgin Co., Ontario.

What I have found:-

In the 1828 Militia Rolls for Yarmouth Twp., there is a Daniel Hawley,
age twenty, living near Benjamin Drake. There was a possibility that
Daniel was a older brother of Charles. (1997)

At St. Thomas Cemetery (67 West Ave., St. Thomas, Ontario.), there is
buried a Thomas W. Hawley, Section OSS, #0SS346. Thomas W. Hawley, died
31 October 1883, age-73 (born accoding to the hard copy vault card in
the United States, born c1809); his spouse: Elizabeth, died 16 May 1872,
age-71 (born c1801); and their daughter: Maria, died 30 October 1892,
age-59 (born c1833). There is no further information on the card
concerning Thomas W. Hawley.

Was he the Thomas Hawley, who was in the 3rd. Regiment Middlesex
Militia; limits:- Yarmouth, Westminister, Dorcester, South Delaware
(Militilia General Orders, 24 March 1823). He was listed as No. 19 in
the nominal list of the third Regiment Middlesex Militia as a person
from the age of nineteen to thirty nine years of age inclusive, dated
25th. December 1828, on page 373, being of the age of 19 (born c1809)
along with No. 30-William J. Hawley, age-25, and No. 43-Daniel Hawley,
age-20. The answer is probably yes!!! He is probably the son of Henry
Hawley. But what about Charles Hawley?

When I examined the following taken from the Hawley Website:
www.hawleysociety.org,
I realized that there was not a snowballs chance that Charles Hawley was
a brother of Thomas W. Hawley, Daniel or William John Hawley or even a
son of Henry Hawley.

Henry HAWLEY was born 1769 in Redding Fairfield CT. He died 26 Mar 1826
in Bayham Middlesex Canada and was buried Mar 1826 in Bayham, Middlesex.
Henry married Mary WOODIN on 17 Mar 1797 in Dutchess County New York.
(http://www.hawleysociety.org/hawleygen/pafg50.htm#1533C) Mary WOODIN
was born 1779 in Dutchess County New York. She died January 1838 in
Bayham Middlesex Canada. Mary married Henry HAWLEY on 17 Mar 1797 in
Dutchess County New York.

They had the following children: 1) Susan HAWLEY was born 1799 in
Dutchess County New York.; 2)Elizabeth HAWLEY was born 1801 in Fishkill
Dutchess New York; 3) William John HAWLEY; 4) Aaron HAWLEY; 5) Thomas
HAWLEY was born 1807; 6) Daniel HAWLEY was born 1809; 7) Cyrus Benjamin
HAWLEY; 8) Henry HAWLEY
