I noticed that you were able to access a number of marriages and wonder if you had time to find this one.

A robert Hopkins came to Canada around 1853 and settled near Durham. I suspect that the Hopkins there were relatives. By 1861 he was living in Normanby with a "wife" Margaret and a number of children. They must have "married" around 1855 and I suspect that the "Bride" was Margaret Hutton of Hutton Hill.

I can find no record of their marriage in either the Trinity C of E records or the Mathodist records.

Do you see any trace of this being factual? Is it possible they never actually married as Robert listed himself as a "bachelor" when he "remarried" in 1870, even though he had about six children!

There is also a possibility that he "married" an Irene Rae around the early 1860's. The Raes or Raey's were from near Hutton Hill, but once again I can find no trace of an Irene.

Would appreciate any direction you can give me on this little gem of a family mystery!
