Hello Dave,

Regarding the Dulmage family...they were Palatines from Rathkeale, Cty Limerick, Ireland and the Baptism/Marriage/Burial records from St. Mary's Parish, Rathkeale are available back hundreds of years. The Dolmetsch & my Fizzell family are connected through Adam ye younger (baptised 1733 Courtmatrix) who married Mary Dolmage (born in Castlematress) on November 25, 1755 in Rathkeale. Bob Fizzell, a Palatine researcher wrote in an email to me, "As Adam ye Younger married Mary Domage, we tie into that line. Are you aware that the Dolmages go back to multiple european royalty? including William the Conqueror and Emperor Rudolf I von Hapsburg."
Have you seen the Palatine Mailing lists? There is quite a bit of Dolmage information in the archives.

The John Teskey ("Founder of Appleton") family was also from Kilheen which is another Palatine settlement. In my experience, I have found that the Palatines settled in the same communities in Quebec/Ontario & often married one another once they came to Canada. Surnames in Ontario include: Dulmage, Switzer, Teskey, Fizzell, Doupe, Piper, Young, Sparling, Mick....

I will go through the baptisms, marriages etc. & see if I can find any of your Dulmages & will contact Bob as well, he has been to Rathkeale a few times to search the records there. If you wish, you may email me directly at <mailto:>

Can anyone give me some more info on the family of Richard Dulmage and Elizabeth Morphy - either descedants or ancestors.
I have 2 links to this family through marriages
Alf married Jennie Green (my mother's family), and
Samuel married Mary Elizabeth Greig (through my father's family via THOMPSON)

1. Richard Dulmage was born in 1809 in Rathkeale , Co. Limerick, Ireland. He died in Oct 1882 in 11th line of Ramsay.

Richard married Elizabeth Morphy daughter of John Morphy about 1845. Elizabeth died in Apr 1899.

Richard and Elizabeth had the following children:

+ 2 M i. L. Alfred Dulmage died before 1916.

+ 3 M ii. John Dulmage was born in 1849. He died in 1916.

4 M iii. WIlliamRufus Dulmage was born calculated 1851/1852. He died in Jul 1889 in Smiths Falls.

WIlliamRufus married Margaret Ann (Maggie) Dulmage daughter of James W. Dulmage and Amarilla Knapp on 30 May 1888 in Prescott, Ont. Margaret was born on 5 Dec 1854 in Augusta. She was christened on 22 Feb 1857 in Methodist Records, Augusta.



+ 5 M iv. Samuel E Dulmage was born calculated 1855/1856.

+ 6 F v. Dulmage died in 1870.

7 M vi. Richard Dulmage died before 1916.

Second Generation

2. L. Alfred Dulmage (Richard) died before 1916.

L. Alfred Dulmage married Margaret Jane (Jennie) Green daughter of Micheal Andrews Green and Mary Ann Moorcroft on 1 Jan 1897 in Appleton, Lanark Co. Ont. Margaret was born on 14 Apr 1867. She died on 23 Sep 1950. She was buried in Auld Kirk .

Excerpt from The Renfrew Mercury, Jan 1. 1897 reads:

L. Alfred Dulmage and Margaret had the following children:

9 M i. Barnet Dulmage was born in 1910.

3. John Dulmage (Richard) was born in 1849 in Ramsay Twp., Lanark Co., Ont. He died in 1916 in Union St., ALmonte. He was buried in 8th Line Cem.



John married Ordelia Hamlin daughter of Alpheus Hamlin and Deliah Keeler on 16 Nov 1875 in Almonte, Ont. Ordelia was born estimated 1850 in Elizabethtown.

They had the following children:

10 M i. Charles A.R. Dulmage died Arnprior in Bef1916.

5. Samuel E Dulmage (Richard) was born calculated 1855/1856 in Ramsay Twp., Lanark Co., Ont.

Samuel married Mary Elizabeth Greig daughter of John Fairbairn Greig and Sarah Thompson on 19 Jun 1889 in Ramsay twp, Lanark County , Ontario, Canada. Mary was born in 1866 in Ramsay Twp., Lanark Co., Ont.

They had the following children:

11 F i. Eva Dulmage .
Eva married Orville Henderon .

6. Dulmage (Richard) died in 1870.

Dulmage married William West . William died in 1920/1930 in Penetanguishene.



William and Dulmage had the following children:

12 M i. William West .

13 F ii. Eva West died in Ashton.

died at age 21


14 F iii. Gertrude West .
