Don't know why your can't search last name.
Tested the system and it works fine for me using 2 different computers with
3 different operating systems in both dial-up and high speed access
connections. In all cases using MS Explorer.

I've always seen Dagleisch spelled this way and I'm usually seeing pre 1860
data.

I don't know why you would need a Canadian address unless they are looking
to get you to move here. Tell them you're willing to buy Canadian beef at
the same time, That should do it.

Sometimes there is a concern about getting current info out of the land
registry but if you say you are looking for only pre1900 data about the
property you should have no problem.
Call them at 519-537-6287.
Don't wait too long as the government is trying to privatize the registry
and this will mean drastically increased lookup prices. A couple of dollars
now might mean $25 down the road.

The early maps I have are difficult to read because of the small text and
take a long time to read through. They will be on-line on the site in the
next while as soon as I get the magnification program to work properly.

Keep in touch and also sign up to the Tavistock list

John,
Thank you for the great information. I tried the website and could
not get it to search on last name. I only seemed to want to use County,
Township or Concession, so I ended up with a couple of hundred entries to
scroll through, and still could not find KRUG in East Zorra. Any ideas?
I also see in an earlier email you spelled Dalgleish with an ending
"sch". Is this an earlier spelling common to that family?
I had also read somewhere that you needed a Canadian mailing address
in order to obtain copies of official records. Do you know if that is true?
My Grandmother(Gertrude DALGLEISH) was born in the 1880's. Does your
earlier maps (earlier than 1880)that you mentioned, reference that family
name?
You have been a big help, as I keep digging.
Thanx again, Brian Harris

Interesting how off topic subjects (against Rootsweb rules) like email
signatures get more attention than actual research.

Although I will be updating the family page, I won't be expanding lower for
some time yet. As a result, here are Henry's children: James, Herbert,
Hartman, Harry, Fred, Effie, Anne, Jean, Isabelle, Bessie. Henry's siblings
are Dorothea Marie Elizabeth, Sophie Katharina, Elizabeth, and Hartman.

The Krug's were members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Sebastopol, a small hamlet on the northern outskirts of Tavistock. I recall
Fred's son Hartman at church in a wheelchair when I was a kid. Fred was
Frederick William and his wife was Rheta Margaret Mohr. I believe Hartman
was their only son??

Suggest you contact the Land Registry Office in Woodstock for details on
property. Can get photocopies for only a couple of dollars. They charge $1 a
page. Wills are usually registered against the property and contain lots of
data.
My maps are mainly pre-1880 and they probably moved there after getting
married in 1884 so can't tell you exactly what lot # on conc 12. But maybe
someone else reading this can.

By the way, always post to the rootsweb address so others can see the data.
People can't help if they can't see the inquiry and responses. Lists die
when people go private.

Try http://www.tavistock.net/cgi-bin/dbman/atlas/db.cgi. This is usually
reserved for members of the Tavistock list. Current username is tavi and
password is new. Lots of Scotts and others.
Scotts were from South Easthope which was next township over, about a mile
north of Krugs farm.

J,
Thanx for the information. This helps a lot.
I was very young at the time and I just remembered both of the towns
names, and no specifics on the family location. They did live on a farm,
because I remember being chased by the geese when we visited. They also had
a son named Hartman who had polio, and had rolling pallet of sorts to move
around the house.
Caroline must have been quite a bit older than my Grandmother,
Gertrude, who was born in the 1880's, and died in the late 1950's in
Buffalo.
Thanx again,
Brian
PS--What does the J stand for?

Took a quick look thru the files and I did pick the right Henry. Henry
b-1859 d-1845 m-1884 to Caroline Dalgleisch d-1935. His brother Hartman
founded Krug Furniture in Waterloo. His stepbrother Fred owned the Glasgow
Warehouse in Tavistock. Henry's father was called Henry and he died in 1853.
Son Henry(1850) was son of his second wife who then also remarried.

You thru me off a bit when you mentioned going to Woodstock to visit. They
actually lived a mile south of Tavistock on the East Zorra 12th concession
(highway from Tavistock to Woodstock). Would be about 12 or 13 miles from
Woodstock. If you visited there in the 50's, it would have been his son Fred
and wife Rheta you visited. Fred farmed and his wife Rheta used to work at
Joe's Place (restaurant) in Tavistock in the 60s.

Will try to get that family group a little more completed this weekend, now
that I pulled the file out.

The family had a 94th birthday party for him in 1944 and the writeup
mentions relatives from Buffalo and Chicago among others. Would be
interested who it might have been from Chicago.

If you go to http://www.tavistock.net/family/groups.htm , you'll find
Lillian listed under Reinhardt Krug.
Not sure which Henry Krug. I think it would be under Johann Conrad 1778, and
refer to Henry S 1850.
Haven't finished that list yet so will have to check notes.
Would be interested in anything on Scotts or Dalgleisch's for web site.

I am looking for some information on my Grandmother Gertrude DALGLEISH
HARRIS. She married Frank B. HARRIS in Buffalo NY in 1913. Her mother's
maiden name was CRESS and her Father was George(or Andrew) DALGLEISH(it is
typewritten in family notes as George, but I found it handwritten as
Andrew). She had a sister named Caroline (know as Carrie) who married Henry
KRUG of Tavistock, and another sister named Lillian who married Duncan Scott
and moved to Manitoba.
I know the Krug's were still in Woodstock in the 1950's because we visited
them when I lived in Buffalo as a child.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian Harris
