Jim, I don't think you gave his age or birthdate, or when he first married,
but there is a "M. Assa Reid" in Brock Township of Ontario Cty (north)
(Dist. 97), Brock, C-2, page 13. He is not with his family but listed as a
domestic.

Subject: [CAN-ONT-PETERBOROUGH] Family of Asa Reid & his Parents Thomas
andMary Ann Reid in 1901, 1891 & 1881 Census'
> Hi List:
>
> I have been unable to locate Asa Melville Reid. and his parents, Thomas
and Mary Ann (Carlin) Reid, in either the 1901, 1891, or 1881 Census' . I
located Asa and his new wife, Lena May Stinson, and their 2 young daughters,
in the 1911 Census, in Peterborough West.
>
> The only other Asa Reid, in Canada, in 1901, was in New Brunswick, but
this is the wrong Asa Reid.
>
> I have checked every spelling variation, in the soundex index, on the 1901
Census, to no avail. Ditto, with a manual check, of every page of the 1901
Census for Peterborough. Lena May Stinson, was located in Peterborough
West, with her parents (John Cameron & Jane Stinson). There is no family
lore, that Asa lived anywhere else, other than the Peterborough area, as a
youth.
>
> I located a Mary Ann Reid, in Russell, in 1901, and 1891, without Thomas.
The father was a Jacob Reid, and her mother was Shea, thus , this is
probably the wrong family. I could not locate any other family, that
appeared to be a reasonable possibility.
>
> While it is possible that Asa Melville Reid, may somehow be overlooked in
the 1901 Census (Asa is a very uncommon name). It is less probable that the
entire family was overlooked.
>
> It is for this reason that I feel the family are probably in the 1901
Census, probably somewhere near Peterborough West, and/or Eldorado, and
probably with some spelling variation(s), that I have not been able to
figure out.
>
> Asa's Death Cert is inconclusive in that it states his parents were
Father-Unknown Reid, and mother as Mary Ann Unknown. It does state that he
lived in Ontario for his life.
>
> Asa's marriage cert states:
>
> Father: Thomas Reid
>
> Mother: Mary Ann Carlin Reid
>
> Spouses Father: John C Cameron
>
> Mother: ???????
>
> Born: Eldora (sp ??). I could not locate an Eldora, but is possibly
Eldorado, near Peterborough.
>
> The church is not given for the marriage.
>
> Before I give up, on locating this family in the 1901, 1891, and 1881
Census', I would appreciate feedback from the list on helping to locate this
family in the above Census' I am not aware of any siblings of Asa.
