This is the "horse's mouth" for Scottish Records - ie it is the Government
office. It is a paid site by the way, so you'll need a credit card.

Other listers with 'later' Scottish ancestors might like to note that the
1891 Census for Scotland is also indexed on the site.


Of course civil registration didnt start in Scotland in 1855 so what you'll
see for the dates you need are Old Parish Records. These are not complete.
So if you find 30 Adam ANDREWS there might be many more not recorded.

You might be better looking for Adam ANDREWS marriage, if you know it was
in Scotland. If people were not standard Church of Scotland members (and a
LOT werent) their children probably wont be in the parish records, but they
would probably have had the banns called in the Parish Church. That's how I
found my own ancestors anyway.

Having said all that Francis is to me a Catholic name and Im afraid I know
zilch about Catholic records other than that in some cases they were more
detailed.

If you have any tiny clues about Adam Snr (occupation etc) run them past me
and I might be able to help the search. I live in Edinburgh and my knowledge
of Scotland is reasonably good.
