I am in desparate need of assistance..this is as much as I have been able to
find out in 6 years of research and I am not 100 per cent sure of all of it.
My husband's grandfather, John Darrell was born June 1858 in Canada.
Sometime, I believe about 1885 he immigrated to the US, Brooklyn, with his mother and
sister. (perhaps other family members also). I believe he died in 1929. On
the death certificate his parents are listed as Bridget, b. in Ireland and
Michael b. in Ireland.
He married a widow sometime around 1890 (?), had a daughter in 1892.;
appeared on the 1900 census and that sems to be the last of him for a while
I have found a John Darrell on the 1920 census and a death certificate for a
John Darrell in 1929. His wife reverted to her previous husband's name and
his daughter also went by her mother's first husband's name except for legal
papers. I am assuming there was some sort of scandal and she divorced him.
That is all I have been able to find out.
Any help at all would be appreciated. I have no idea of where to even begin
searching in Canada.
