Mike, according to PEOPLE PLACES a Dictionary of Saskatchewan Place Names by
Bill Barry.
"Vermilion Hills No. 195 -20-8-W2. A former RM (ed.rural municipality)
north of Morse. The RM dissolved in 1967, with two townships joining
Endfield No. 194 and the rest becoming part of Morse No.165. The name is
descriptive and fairly recent. The Indians called the area the "thunder
breeding hills," see Thunder Creek."
