Hi Mike:
You have had a number of replies to your query but I would like to add a
little more.
>From the National Archives Dominion Land Grants
http://www.archives.ca/exec/naweb.dll?fs&020111&e&top&0 Anthony Dixon had a
homestead at Township 55, Range 4, West 4th Meridian. No dates are given.
Somebody had already sent this site http://geonames.nrcan.gc.ca/english/
so to add. West of 4th Meridian follows the present Alberta/Sask border.
Vermilion is at T50. R6, W4, This would make Anthony's homestead about 25 to
30 miles north, quite a distance in that time period. Elk Point is at T57,
R7, W4 so much closer but when was the town started?
All listers:
Is there a 1980s History Book for Vermillion and/or Elk Point that might
have some information about this family? Can anyone do a lookup?
Our Genealogical Society Library is closed right now so I cannot check the
borders of Saskatchewan and Alberta before 1905. Is there a web site that
has these maps?
