Hi all
The reason that so many listed their destination to southern areas
is that they didn't really know where they might end up and there
were a few pieces of land that many filed on just to get into
Canada. Those pieces were just inside the border and once in
Canada, they 'abandoned it' and headed north on speculation. My
grandparents filed on one such 1/4 and then headed north to the
Ferguson Flats area of Alberta. You had to have a destination or
they wouldn't let you into Canada but the listed destination wasn't
always the intended one.
