Carole, Viola, Listers, Friends,
A note of interest on these records are the BRIDES coming to
CANADA........they seemed to get into Canada with very little
money..............most read ..............name, destination, money about
$30 or so .........comment........going to her husband.....
RE; Border records from 1908 to year 1918 into Saskatchewan
To order the North Portal Border Crossing Records use the following
numbers: The first three are the ones I ordered.......
T5489 ( years 1909-1910), T5490 (Years 1910 - 1911). T5491 (early 1911 to
November 1911).
Year 1911 was a record year for immigration to CANADA. Year 1913 alone
brought to Canada more than 400,000 immigrants and was the highest year.
Millions of people immigrated to Canada from years 1890 to year 1914.
Clifford Sifton was the immigration minister who promoted this policy which
opened up western Canada to settlement..................
Additional North Portal Records: T5492 (nov. 1911>January 1913), T5493(Feb
1913-Mar.1914), T5494(year Apr. 1914- April 1917) and T5494
May1917-1918)....................
Other Saskatchewan Entry Points:
T5502 Willow Creek, T5462 and T5496 West Poplar River, T5502 Wood
Mountain, T5462, T5495, and T5496 East Poplar River, T5462 Big Nuddy,
T5496 Radville, T5485 and T5496 Marienthal
Go to your local library (must have a microfilm reader) and order them on
the inter-library loan program.........for the smaller
Towns........................no charge so far I think..............
If you live near Cloverdale, B.C., Calgary or Edmonton , Alberta,
Regina or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Archives , Winnipeg,Manitoba ,
Toronto, Ontario or Montreal, Quebec..........you are lucky as
they have them in their local collection..............
...........tj......bye.........I hope that helps a
little.................good searching from Nanaimo, B.C.............
............................................................................
.............
I think the complete list is at the National Archives Website, if I remember
correctly......
