Shirley,
Those numbers are a Legal land description. Your grandfather
disappeared during the First World War in year 1917. Have you checked the
military to see if he was in the Army etc. during those years? Where did
the family live? Do you know the Town in Saskatchewan? If they were married
in the Town I would check the Church records for marriage documents and
details. Do you have the date of marriage? Look up the newspaper account of
the wedding.........they are on microfilm at the Saskatchewan Archives Board
...........Their address: Allow them lots of
time as they are very busy and suffer from Government Cutbacks, and thus
are understaffed........so be very nice to them as they are helping ALL of
us find our kinfolk..............
If you can not go to Saskatchewan, then order the microflm of
the Newspaper by Inter -library Loan to your library...............
Send them about ten dollars by mail order (estimate) and order
the "CUMMINS MAPS" for that land description and the various years
available. You will find your folk's names there on the
Maps..............Also order the "Complete Homesteaders File " -if your
kinfolk were Homesteaders...........it will be from eight pages to fifteen
pages of material that your folks filled in to get their Homestead land ,
and it will have much detailed information about your family. It will be
signed by your folks and list information that they gave to the government
about themselves about where they came from, citizenship and naturalization
details, number of children etc............It will be the BEST and cheapest
source of family information that you will ever find..................
......................I hope that
helps...........tj............bye..............
............................................................................

He left his wife and children around 1917? and was never heard from again by
any body, not even his own parents.
