To The Hon. Art Eggleton, M.P.:-

As a former Mayor of the City of Toronto, you would know
how deeply the murder of little Holly Jones has affected
Canadians from coast to coast.

Sir, I am directing this to you -- but am copying in provincial
representatives - not all of the Liberal Party.

More than 10 years ago, young Christopher Stephenson and
his mother went shopping at Shopper's World, Brampton, Ontario.
My daughter-in-law saw an older gentleman speak to Christopher
and assumed this was the boy's grandfather -- they appeared to
know each other. [The mother was shopping at the next store]

Man and boy walked toward the exit door -- the mother came and
as Christopher was not in sight, security was called -- his body was
found about three days later.

The older man was one of Canada's sex-crime prisoners, released
into the neighbourhood without the landlord or police being notified.
He had made friends with the children, played games of ball, talked
to them -- he knew them and they knew him. Mr. Fredericks became
a statistic when Christopher's body was found -- saved a trial -- but
the Coroner's Inquest issued about 75 recommendations.

CHRISTOPHER'S LAW is a good one -- police must be notified,
the neighbours must approve if a former prisoner should intend to
live in the neighbourhood. Meetings are held -- there have been
refusals -- even one female (in prison) will never be allowed to visit
her aunt, resident of a neighbourhood with children.

CHRISTOPHER'S LAW is only good in ONTARIO.

We have many moving into the province -- these former prisoners
are not on file -- he or she could be living next door!

During the past week, we have grieved with parents of Holly Jones.

It is my sincere wish parliamentarians will add to Christopher's
Law suitable legalities to extend the boundaries beyond Ontario,
and as a memorial to Holly, let it be known as HOLLY'S LAW.
