Hi Pat,
The year was 1831 for Robert English et al and the ship has now been
confirmed as the King William as opposed to the Majestic. (did you see the
note about that on my website?)

(the 1835 you might have seen is just identifying the Whitby picture beside
the info about Majestic)
You probably won't find anything listing specifically Eliza and John, but
you are jolly lucky to see Robert English named, for this pre-archiving period.
I think I must be suffering from information-overload, as I received
confirmation of the correct ship name for that group of emigrants last
month, I have been sent letters by a descendent of William Harrison who
was part of that emigration, and had forgotten to transcribe them yet. He
confirmed the correct ship name from the Quebec Mercury (newspaper) of
1831. I will try to include the letters on my website as soon as possible.
(they will be linked to the Whitby page)
You may or may not know that I have also started another project of the St.
Lawrence steamboat records 1819-1836 and have only completed 1819-1820 so
far. The emigrants would arrive at Quebec, then usually take the steamboats
to Montreal and parts west. I have received confirmation from some of the
descendents of the 1819-1820 passengers I've transcribed, which is really
exciting. They were en route to Canadian and US destinations.

It is a long tedious process, as I want to be able to upload the Quebec
ship arrivals to complement the steamboat records, so people can connect
the steamboat passengers to the Quebec sailing ship arrivals, for
confirmation (paying attention to port of departure). As there are only 24
hours per day, and I am only one person (darn!) and this is taking longer
than I would like. Unfortunately when I get to 1831, the steamboat list
will likely only say "Robert English & wife & x number of children" but at
least you would know that they all travelled together. :-} If she followed
later on another ship, she would be named as Eliza English and any children
over the age of twelve would be named as well. Very rarely were there any
ages, except a notation such as "under 12 years of age." (these notations
were for the purpose of fare-billing only, as children were half-fare . .
infants free)
