Hi Ginny,

I don't have anything on their immigration . . I do have Nova Scotian ship
arrivals as reported in the newspapers . . Ships to and from Nova Scotia
1815-1838
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/Arrivals/novascotia.htm
. . unfortunately very few passenger names and I have no "Shortt" on my
entire website.

However . . I do have something on your Johanna, but not her
immigration. Indexed in "Nova Scotia Immigrants to 1867" volume II by
Leonard H. Smith and Norma H. Smith

Shortt, Joanna, daughter of John & Eleanor (Thompson) of county Armagh,
Ireland ; married at Halifax 29th February 1840, to Solomon Brennan. (34:126)

Brennan, Solomon, son of Solomon & Elizabeth (Roney) of county Down,
Ireland ; married at Halifax 29th February 1840, to Joanna Shortt. (34:126)

(nothing about the immigration of this Brennan family either)

The source for the marriage:
(34) Punch, Terrence M., "Some Irish Immigrant Weddings in Nova Scotia
1834-1840," from records at Catholic archdiocese at Halifax, . .
"The Irish Ancestor", 8 (1976) : 2 : 124-139. Some "Halifax" marriages at
Dartmouth.

Looks like Terry first published it in "The Irish Ancestor" in 1976,
volume 8 . . not sure what the "2" means . . the 124-139 are the page
numbers of the article, with yours on page 126.

btw. just in case it wasn't a typo, FrancEs is usually female and FrancIs
is usually male spelling.

Sue
