I am looking for some advice and if possible help in my search for information about two family members who went to live in Saskatchewan in about 1907.
They are Lucy and Edwin Sykes who both came from the Leeds area of West Yorkshire, England. Lucy was born about 1872 and Edwin in 1869. They married in 1907 in Canada, I think in or near Waldorf.
I have copies of letters written by them to other family members, the last one being in 1913.
In the letters there is a mention of Moose Jaw, but I think Tuxford was the closest town where they could buy provisions. They lived "on the land" or were farmers, (I don't know how it should be referred to in Canada).
I have no knowledge of that area of Canada, but I imagine that they "took up" land. I question whether at that there was some sort of scheme available where for a relatively small price land could be purchased.
Any ideas as to where I could look for more information about them, such as births and deaths would be gratefully received.
Thank you in advance.
