Hi Tanya:

The surname used to be written Peltier; nowadays it is Pelletier. Peltier is a trade name: person who handles and treat furs.

The census data show that Adam was born in Canada. You will need to find his marriage record that should indicate who his parents were. That should be included in the marriage record most likely in Bristol co and maybe in New Bedford.

Unfortunately for that period, there was no Québec-province-wide birth registry. Even if you found a baptism for an Adam Peltier, there is no way you could confirm that this is the one who married Roxie; there might be a few dozens in Québec alone.

Whenever you come across his parents' names I should be in a position to help with his ancestry. Contact me by linking to this msg.
