DEATHS


ALEXANDER, Joseph A. Corner Brook, NF It
is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Alexander
announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on
Sunday, April 14th, 2002 at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with
fond and loving memories is his wife Mary, three step-daughters:
Marjorie Blanchard, Jessie Barry, Curling and Mary Hunt, Toronto, as
well as other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from
Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday evening from 7-9
p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be
held on Wednesday, April 17th, at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Roman
Catholic Church, Curling, Fr. Buckle officiating, interment to follow at
Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously
accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.


COMPANION, Annie Genevieve Summerside, NF
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Companion
announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on
Sunday, April 14th, 2002 at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn with
fond and loving memories; brother Clifton (Irene) Loder, Summerside,
sisters-in-law: Evelyn Loder, Marie Loder, Summerside, Jean Wheeler,
Curling and Rhodena Loder, Ontario; brothers-in-law: George Companion,
Lark Harbour, Fred (Rita) Companion, Corner Brook, Jack (Cecilia)
Companion, Curling and Eric (Elvie) Companion, Frenchman's Cove, as well
as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends,
particularly those friends of Mountainview Estates. She is predeceased
by her husband William, 1991, brothers George, Wesley, Francis, and
sister Elsie, parents George and Delilah Loder. Visitation will take
place from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Summerside beginning on Sunday
evening from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April
16th at 2:00 p.m. Officiated by Rev. Ken Abbott. Interment to follow
at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously
accepted or donations may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church Fund or
to the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook.


RENOUF, Lavinia B. Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre,
Stephenville Crossing (Formerly of Stephenville) It
is with great sadness that the family of the late Lavinia B. Renouf
announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in
Stephenville Crossing on Friday, April 12, 2002 at the age of 74 years.
She will be sadly missed by seven sons: Reginald Noseworthy of
Cornwall, Ontario, Brett (Josephine) Noseworthy of Kippens, John (Wanda)
Noseworthy of Barrie, Ontario, Joseph (Nancy) Noseworthy of Oshawa,
Ontario, Jim (Darlene) Noseworthy of Pickering, Ontario, Paul Noseworthy
(Diane Doyle) of Stephenville, Mark (Kim) Noseworthy of Oshawa, Ontario
and seven daughters: Gloria Stock of Bowmanville, Ontario, Gladys (Don)
Young of Stephenville, Ivy (David) Blackwood of Stephenville, Frances
(Scott) Waterman of Thornhill, Ontario, Sadie Noseworthy (Cyril Burton)
of Scarborough, Ontario, Phorsha Noseworthy of St. John's, Bonnie
(Gilbert) Sheppard of Stephenville and three brothers: Gordon (Mary)
Short of St. John's, Don (Evelyn) Short of Buchans, Hughie Short of
Buchans and one sister, Aggie (Calvin) Tucker of South Brook; 31
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives
and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Renouf and her
daughter, Elsie Noseworthy. Visitation took place on Saturday and
Sunday at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville.
Funeral Services will take place on Monday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. from
the United Church, St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville with interment in the
Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As
expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be
greatly appreciated.


PITTMAN, Bertha Ethel Jackson's Arm, NF It
is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Ethel Pittman
announce her passing on Friday, April 12th, 2002 at the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years. She leaves to mourn with fond
and loving memories her children: Mary Combdon, Jackson's Arm, Marie
(Arthur) Gale, Pollard's Point, Freeman (Bernice) and Thomas (Melvina)
both of Jackson's Arm. Son-in-law Benjamin Combdon, Jackson's Arm. 17
grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Sr., daughter Effie
Combdon and son-in-law Garland Combdon. Visitation was held from St.
Bartholomew's Anglican Church in Jackson's Arm on Saturday and Sunday
from where the funeral service will be held today at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment to follow at the Church
Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations may be made
to St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church Memorial Fund. Funeral
arrangements are entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive,
Deer Lake.


BRAKE, Elizabeth Evelyn Corner Brook, NF
Passed peacefully away on Thursday, April 11th, 2002 at the Western
Memorial Regional Hospital, Elizabeth Brake at the age of 87. Left to
mourn with fond and loving memories are her eight daughters: Abigail
(Earl) Smith, Jean Buckle, Delores Condotta, Sandra Roberts, Donna (Don)
Bouchard, Veronica (Michael) Walsh, Barbara Ann (Sid) Jones, Paula
(Joel) McRoberts, and a large number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Noble
Brake, November 1971; son Walter; mother Abigail Keeping; sisters:
Dorothy Blackmore, Phoebe Anderson, brother Jack Anderson; sons-in-law
Frank Roberts, Kevin Buckle, Gino Condotta. The funeral service will be
held Monday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church,
Clarence Street, Reverend Percy Coffin officiating. The internment will
follow at The Townsite Cemetery, Montgomery Street. Friends may visit
Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Saturday and Sunday from
2-4 and 7-9. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations to a
charity of one's choice will be graciously accepted.


ALEXANDER, Margaret St. George's, NF It is
with great sorrow that the family of the late Margaret Alexander (nee
Gabriel) announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital,
Stephenville, on Friday, April 12th, 2002 at the age of 59 years.
Margaret has a special place in heaven and leaves behind many cherished
family and friends: husband and best friend Francis Xavier; three
loving sons: Paul (Gail), St. John's, Ron (Dawn), Newmarket, ON., and
Stephen of Edmonton, Alberta; five adored grandchildren: Christopher,
Jonathan, Samantha, Taylor and James; five sisters: Christine (Bernard)
Sheppard, Flat Bay, Johanna, St. John's, Marina (James) Dollard,
Stephenville Crossing, Valetta (Carson) Parsons, St. George's, Philomena
(Pat) Dreaddy, Stephenville Crossing; seven brothers: Gervase, Nova
Scotia, Freddy (Lana), Stephenville Crossing, Stanley (Christina), St.
George's, Joseph, Kingslow, ON, Norman, Flat Bay, Patrick (Marg), Amos
(Jenny), of St. George's; brothers-in-law: Amos Porter, St. John's;
sisters-in-law: Florence Gabriel, St. George's. She is predeceased by
her parents Lawrence and Angela, three siblings Fecicia, Nobert and
Michael. Visitation will take place from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, St. George's on Sunday evening from 6-9 p.m. and on Monday from
10 a.m. to 9 p.m., from where the funeral service will be held on
Tuesday, April 16th, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Fr. Aidan Devine.
Cremation to follow. We will never forget you Mom, you'll be in our
hearts forever. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's
Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.
