Foran, Ruthven Louise (Macdonald)

FORAN _ Ruthven Louise (nee Macdonald). Born on January 30, 1936 in
Vancouver and passed away peacefully in Vancouver on May 28, 2005 in the
presence of the family she so lovingly and faithfully nurtured, strengthened
and inspired. Louise will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by
Patrick, her husband of 49 years; her children Sydney, Don, Michael, Lesley,
Frances, Tricia, Paula, Jocelyn, and Christine and their partners; her
adoring grandchildren, Katie, Lauren, William, Louise, and Ruthven (who
loved nothing better than being with their 'Bupa') brother John Macdonald,
brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Kay Foran and Frank and Patricia Foran,
sister-in-law Terry Macdonald as well as many close friends and relatives.
Predeceased by her parents Don and Ruth Macdonald and her brother Cameron.
Louise led a full and meaningful life, guided by her strong faith, positive
attitude, wonderful sense of humour and love of family and friends. She
enjoyed adventures with Pat, travel, close relationships with people of all
ages, great conversations, shopping with Katie, and 'all things bright and
beautiful' including art, literature, music, good movies, and writing. Her
generous spirit found expression in a variety of personal and social causes,
often eloquently revealed in her 'letters to the editor.' Louise epitomized
the spirit of the multi-tasker and always gave the impression she had all
the time in the world to share her time and energy. She devoted herself to
the well being of others, social justice, and service to family, church, and
community. Although Louise had nine children of her own, there was always
room for more at her table...always soup on the stove, chocolate chip
cookies in the oven and tea for everyone. A gifted listener with an
abundance of patience, compassion, and understanding, Louise was the center
of our family - the light of our lives. In the past few years, Louise faced
illness with characteristic courage, grace, and dignity. We will love and
miss her forever and always. Prayers and visitation at St. Augustine's

Honours from the University of Carleton, Ottawa, Ontario, and his Masters of

profound impact on many people as a high school teacher, a parish priest,

dedication to his family, to the students he taught, to his parishioners and
especially as a chaplain during which he lovingly ministered to those in
their final journey, or provided comfort to their families. His
thoughtfulness, compassion, dedication, and his ability to listen and to
teach were legendary. We cherish the memories of an outstanding brother and
friend who taught us much about how to embrace life and death, how to
express love and live fully. He truly brightened and enriched all the lives
of those whom he encountered with his loving personality. A funeral service
