EDGINGTON, Doreen Mavis Passed away at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on June
16, 2005. Born May 24, 1925 in England. Predeceased by her husband, Bernard,
she is survived by her family. A private family service will be held at
McCALL BROS. FAMILY CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, June

Evans, Arthur C. "Ace"

EVANS, Arthur C. (Ace) Art passed away, peacefully, at Saanich Peninsula
Hospital Hospice on June 14, 2005 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by
daughter Susan in 1990. Art will be lovingly and forever remembered by his
wife of 55 years, Beth, and two sons, John (Sandy) of Victoria, and David
(Barb) of Toronto. He is also survived by 5 grandsons and 3
greatgrandchildren. The family wishes to thank the nurses and volunteers in
the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and help during a very
difficult time. Friends and family are asked to come together in remembrance
on Sunday, June 19th at Eagle Hall (891 Esquimalt Road) between 6 and 9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Saanich Peninsula Hospital

Haynes, Angeline
HAYNES, Angeline July (29) Born in Vancouver, B.C., April 15, 1976, died
tragically Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Enfield, Hants., Co.. She was the
daughter of Mark Haynes and June Bowie. She is survived by brother, Jamie;
boyfriend, Wayne Stillman; her Aunt "Pat" Patricia Bowie, and her Uncle
Charlie Haynes. She also has an extensive family in Victoria, B.C.,
throughout the Maritimes as well as in Liverpool, UK. Besides living in the
Northwest Territories Angeline lived in Victoria, BC, before returning home
to the Maritimes. She received her post secondary education from Camosun
College and the University of Victoria. She marched on Hadrian's wall, has
been in an igloo and hugged a cougar during her dynamic life. Burial mass
will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Guysborough on Saturday, June 18,
2005 at 1pm. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Angeline's memory may
be made to Victoria SPCA at 3150 Napier Lane, V8T 4V5. 103524

Lewis, George
LEWIS, George 79, passed away June 10, 2005, and now joins the love of his
life Corinne Lewis who predeceased him in 2002. Six years ago they
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. At the young age of 16 years
George joined the Navy and fought in the Second World War II with his
brother, Bob. After surviving the beaches of Normandy, George and Bob
returned to the west coast to spend time with their other brothers, Jack and
Dick. After operating a water taxi business between Campbell River and
Quadra Island, George joined the RCMP and spent 31 years policing the west
coast. George was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and leaves
behind four children Deborah, Derald (Bara-Dawn), Douglas (Tiffany), and
Beverly (Paul), and five wonderful grandchildren. George was an avid
volunteer for the Alzheimer's Society, and recently with the Peninsula
Community Services Thrift Shop. George's love for life was infectious and he
will be sadly missed by all his close friends and family. In lieu of flowers
a donation to your favourite charity would be appreciated. A gathering for
his close friends and family to celebrate George's life will be held at
Capital City Yacht Club, 10630 Blue Heron Rd., Sidney, June 25, 2005, at
13:00 hours. 100510

Marczak, Walter

MARCZAK, Walter September 29, 1911 June 14, 2005 Passed away peacefully at
the Victoria General Hospital, 7CN, while listening to the classical music
he loved, with his daughter Dodie at his side. He lived surrounded by the
love of his family: Hilda, his beloved wife of 59 years; daughters Dodie
(Steve Miller), Karyn (Erhard Laslo), and Susan (Manuel Altamirano); and his
four much loved grandchildren and three grandchildren by marriage-Joni
Miller Laurie (Miller) Marczak (Conan Phelan), Jeremy (Miller) Marczak
(Cailey), and Josh Miller (Sabrina). He was gentle, loving, and wise and an
inspiration and role model to many. He loved to create with his hands and
was a talented musician. He had a great curiosity and knowledge about the
world around us, and transmitted his love of learning, of travel, and of
exploration to his children and grandchildren. He kept his wonderful sense
of humour to the end and could tell a joke like no one else. He was
physically and emotionally strong and generous and truly the head of our
family. We are thankful for the time we had with him no one can ever take
his place. Special thanks to Dr. Eric Shafonsky, and Dr. Alec Dougall and
the nurses and staff of 7CN. No funeral service by request. A private
memorial gathering will be held at a later date. 103553

Millar, James Wallace "Jim"
MILLAR, James (Jim) Wallace (1904 2005) With sadness we announce the passing
of Jim Millar on June 15. He was dearly loved and admired for his remarkable
stamina, patience, academic accomplishments and dedication to his family.
Cherishing his memory are his two daughters, Shirley (John) Demeriez and
Margaret (Bill) Rothery and grandchildren, Brenda (Mike) Fawkes, Wayne
(Mary) Demeriez, Norm (Heather) Smith, Deanna (Jerry) Pfeifer, and Vance
(Cheryl) Smith and 14 greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his first
wife, Patricia in 1980 and his wife, May in 1994. A mechanical engineer,
Jim's career in railroading began in B.C. then took him to Ontario where he
retired in 1968. He was a member of the Professional Engineers Association,
Masonic Lodge, Sidney Rotary Club, a charter member of the Sidney Lawn
Bowling Club and a past member of the Central Saanich Lawn Bowling Club. A
huge thank you to the staff of Rest Haven Lodge for your compassionate care.
We invite family and friends to join in a celebration of Jim's life at St.
Paul's Church, 2410 Malaview Avenue, Sidney, B.C., on June 22 at 3:00 p.m.

Nicolson, Donald Allan (Al)
NICOLSON, Donald Allan (Al) Born September 9, 1927. Passed away June 13,
2005. Predeceased by his son Allan Craig. Survived by his loving wife
Beverley, son Chris (Teresa), daughters Jane (Sarkis) Teghararian, Jillian,
Allison (Dion) Horvat, beloved grandchildren Nicholas and Natalie
Teghararian, brothers John (Judy) of Chilliwack, Colin (Ann) of Regina, and
many nieces and nephews. Al was born in Regina, SK and grew up in Victoria,
BC. After two years at Victoria College he moved to Vancouver to complete
his studies at UBC. He met his wife Beverley and settled down in Vancouver
to start a family and his career in the insurance industry. Al was a member
of Point Grey Golf Club for 45 years where he enjoyed his bridge, golf and
Riverside Club. Al was a devoted husband and father and was surrounded by
many friends throughout his lifetime. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21st at 12:00 noon at
Ryerson United Church, 2195 W. 45th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. Reception
following at Point Grey Golf Club, 3350 S.W. Marine Drive. No flowers

NISSEN, Jens April 6, 1929 June 16, 2005 On Thursday, June 16, 2005 Jens
died peacefully at home. He will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret,
daughter Carol (John), son Robert, all family and many friends both near and
far away. Jens had requested no service. A celebration of his life will take

Wachter, Blair Tolmie

WACHTER, Blair Tolmie Blair Tolmie Wachter, beloved husband, father and
grandfather, died after complications from multiple myeloma at the
University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 12, 2005. Blair
was born March 5, 1935, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to Tolmie
Joseph Wachter and Joyce Winifred Lillian nee Smith. He was the first of
five children. Blair attended grade school in Victoria, and high school in
Metchosin, British Columbia. Blair studied two years at Victoria College and
continued his studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver,
BC, where he received his Medical Doctorate. In 1960, he married Ann-Mari
Wallen and they moved to New York where Blair worked as an anesthesiologist
for 43 years. Blair began his career at Meadowbrook Hospital (now Nassau
County Medical Center) on Long Island, New York. In 1975, he became a full
time partner of the Department of Anesthesia at Brunswick Hospital in
Amityville, NY, and served as President of the Medical staff at Brunswick
until 1980. Blair was an avid fisherman, skier, and outdoorsman. The Wachter
family spent summers on Long Island Sound and winters in the Catskill
Mountains. In 1973, Blair bought property in Middleburgh, NY, and together
with his family maintained a home and small horse farm there for 30 years.
Blair retired from medical practice in 2003 due to health difficulties and
moved to Holladay, Utah. Blair Wachter is survived by his wife, Ann-Mari;
their daughter, Nanette Mari Wachter, and her husband, Kelvin Arthur
Nahrwold, who reside in Middleburgh, NY; their son, Tolmie Erik Wachter, and
his wife, Kristina Gibby Wachter, and three grandchildren, residing in
Holladay, Utah; a brother, Bernard Wachter, in Victoria, British Columbia; a
sister, Carole Wells, in Metchosin, BC; and a sister, Daphne Feusier, in
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Wachter of
Metchosin, BC, in 1994. A family memorial service was held on Saturday, June
18, at the Wachter home in Holladay, Utah. 101333

WEAVING, Raymond Beloved husband, father and Grandpa who is greatly missed.
Born November 27, 1921, Fort William, Ontario, died peacefully January 14,
2005, Victoria, B.C. Survived by his devoted wife Jean, predeceased by his
son Stephan and lovingly remembered by daughters; Lita (Brad), Jill (Keith),
Tracy (Jeff) and grandchildren Heather, Caitlyn and Kale. Sisters Marg (Bob)
and Pat (Don) and many other family members. Served with the Seaforth
Highlanders of Canada during WW II and worked for many years as a Denturist.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 1pm at St.
Alban's Church, 1468 Ryan St. 103561

WHOMES, Sidney "John " Sept 20, 1926 June 10, 2005 After a courageous
battle with cancer, Dad left us. A wonderful, warm husband, father and
friend. Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen (1970). Survived by loving
wife Edna; sons John, Colin, Kevin and Mike; daughters Sheila and Kathleen
and numerous grandchildren. His dealings in antiques and collectables made
him many friends. Dad, we will cherish the memories and miss you dearly.
Special thanks to Vic, Joyce, Emmy and hospice for their care and support.
No service as requested. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
Granddad will be fondly remembered for his wonderful storytelling and jokes.
