BALDRY _ William Wesley, born October 6, 1926, in Wetaskawin, Alberta, died
on Sunday morning, July 24, 2005, at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He is
survived by his beloved wife Kathleen; son Peter (wife Gisele and daughter
Erin); son Chris (wife Janet and daughters Sarah, Rachel and Laura); and
daughter Jennifer (husband Gary, daughter Ellen and son Will). A Memorial
Service will be held on Friday, July 29th, at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of

BONAR _ William "Bill" passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2005
surrounded by his family. Bill was predeceased by 6 brothers, 2 sisters and
1 grandson. Survived by his loving wife Bessie of 65 years; children Edoline
(Dennis), Vonnie (John), Len (Kathi), Gord (Kristy); 10 grandchildren, 6
great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews. Prayers
will be held at the Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 - 108 Ave., Surrey, on
Wednesday, July 27 at 7:00pm. Funeral Service (in English language) will be
held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Mary, 10765 - 135A St, Surrey
on Thursday, July 28, at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial
Gardens. Following the graveside, friends are invited to join the family for

Bounds, Benjamin
BOUNDS _ Benjamin (1913-2005) It is with great sadness the family announces
the peaceful passing of their father and grandfather on July 20, 2005.
Benjamin was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years Margaret in 1999.
Ben is survived by his son Ben (Judy) of Burnaby, two daughters Barbara
(Frank) Brick of Vancouver, Valerie Carter of Kelowna, son-in-law Joe Carter
of Calgary; six grandchildren Patrick, Debbie, Margaret (Phil), Lindsay
(Brad), Darren and Megan. Three great grandchildren, Desiree, Daniel and
Brandon. Ben and Margaret moved to Kelowna in 1953 where he worked as an
Engineer on the CN tugboats until his retirement in 1975. Ben was a member
of the K.G.C.C. and the CN Pensioners Club. In lieu of flowers donations may
be made to the B.C. Lung Association. A private memorial service was held on
July 22, 2005 at the Kelowna Memorial Cemetery.

BRATUS _ Louis Francis, born February 11, 1923 at Melville, Sask., passed
away suddenly on July 22, 2005 at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Audrey (1999) and son Keith
(1989). Lovingly remembered by his children, Alan (Anita), Larry (Noreen),
Diane Garth (Bill), Maureen Friesen (Ruben) and Craig. Survived by his
grandchildren, Gregory, Christina, Chelsea and Ryan. A Memorial Celebration

BREITENBACH _ Ursula passed away July 19, 2005, after a lengthy illness,
with her loving husband Willi by her side. She was predeceased by her
grandson Cary Scholz (1994). She will be greatly missed by her husband
Willi, her son and daughter-in-law Heinz and Renata Scholz, gransdons Tony
and Christopher Scholz, and great-granddaughter Kishal. No funeral by
request. There will be a celebration of Ursula's life at the home of her son
on Sunday, August 7th, 2-4pm for her friends and family, 4671 Arthur Drive,

Cantrill, Wray Kitchener "Kitch"
CANTRILL _ Wray Kitchener "Kitch", long-time resident of Vancouver, died
July 19, 2005, at the age of 90. He was born in Ardath, SK, October 23,
1914, and began teaching school in Weyburn in 1935. During the Second World
War, he served in the RCAF as a ground instructor to air crew. After the
war, he obtained a B.A. from the University of Toronto and a B.Ed. from the
University of British Columbia, and then taught in Langley and West
Vancouver, most recently at Sentinel School until his retirement in 1975. He
was predeceased by his brothers Red, Clarence, and Jack. He is survived by
his sister-in-law Marj Cantrill of Penticton; his nieces and nephews Sandra
Hayes, Barbara Martin, Michael Cantrill, Garth Cantrill, and Diane Cantrill,
and their children and grandchildren. No service by request.

CLAYTON _ Eileen Frances (nee Winkley) born Great Harwood, Lancashire,
England on March 31, 1920, passed away on July 23, 2005 after a brief
illness. She was a lovely, gentle woman who lived with spirit, conviction,
and courage. She is predeceased by her husband, Stan; her parents, Mary and
Henry Winkley and her sister Mollie Mooney. She is survived by her children:
Marita, Michelle, Lawrence (Tisia), Leigh (Nina); her grandchildren: Kelsey,
Spencer, Adele, Annemarie; her sister-in-law Lorraine Clayton; nieces,
nephew and extended family. Special thanks to the Burnaby Hospital staff who
cared for Eileen. She will always be loved and never forgotten. In lieu of

was raised in Campbell River and passed away from cancer in Ridge Meadows
Hospital, on July 24th, 2005. Predeceased by parents Ben and Marie Falk.
Survived by children, Ben (Kari) and Mandy (Adam); grandchildren, Lauryn and
Ayden; sisters, Carol (Don) Eyford, Cheryl Robinson, Sharon (Dan) Miller,
Sheila Bowers; brother Fred (Sara) Falk; numerous nieces, nephews and close
friend Donna. His sense of humour, charm, and wit will be deeply missed by

Hill, Ethel Marjory (Smedley)
HILL - Ethel Marjory (nee Smedley) was born in Chilliwack, BC on May 3, 1914
and passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2005 in Vancouver. She was predeceased
by her husband George, sisters Mabel, Elsie, Evelyn and June, brothers
Clarence, Arnold, Gordon, Lorne and Jack; granddaughter Kathleen and
great-grandson Damian. She will be lovingly remembered by sisters Bev and
Dorothy, her little brother Charlie, daughter Marlene, granddaughters
Caroline and Crystal Dawn; niece Marion and nephew Victor, as well as many
other relatives and close friends whom she greatly treasured. Ethel grew up
in Vanderhoof, BC, and lived in Ladner from 1958 to the present. She served
as a Wireless Instructor in WW II and was an active member of the Order of
the Easter Star, Fraser Chapter No. 30. Her indomitable spirit, love of life
and family and her great faith and poetic nature made her to be the truly
remarkable lady that she was. Our family is very appreciative of the
wonderful care that both she and George received at Brock Farhni Extended
Care. Her Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 4755
Arthur Drive, Ladner, BC, on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 1 pm, with
interment to follow at Boundary Bay Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian

HONEY _ Tobia Beate "Toby", born November 30, 1925, passed away on Friday,
July 22nd, 2005, at the Trillium Lodge in Parksville, BC, peacefully at the
age of 79. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband David, of
48 years of marriage; her son Michael and daughter-in-law Rosemary, of
Ottawa, ON; and her three grand-daughters Megan, Cassandra and Alyssa whom
she loved to spoil and dote upon. Toby is also lovingly remembered and
missed by her brother Axel and sister-in-law Ursula of Berlin, Germany; as
well as many close friends in Canada, Germany, the US and around the world.
Toby was a singer, mother, homemaker and traveler of the world whose
favorite pastime was still shopping for her family. An Open House to
celebrate her life and Memorial Service will be held at the Yates Funeral
Home in Parksville, BC, on Thursday, July 28, between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

sleep. Born in Ontario August 31, 1930, moved to BC 1952, lovingly and with

KNEE _ Robert Edward March 1, 1968 - July 22, 2005 It is with profound
sadness we announce Robert's passing on July 22nd, 2005, in Burnaby. He
leaves behind his loving partner and soulmate Gina, who will fondly remember
him with great love and affection always; his parents Gerry and Margaret of
Uxbridge, Ontario; his brother Mike and sister Carol Quigley and their
families. Predeceased by his brother Eddie. Will be sadly missed by Gina's
family. He also leaves behind his good friend Gerry, work mate Claudio, as
well as his two special K9 companions Jake and Robbie Doodle who always
brought him great joy. "Bubba" will be remembered most for his vast
collection of great sayings, his dedication on the job and love of his work,
his unrelenting positive outlook and zest for life, his charming ways and
beautiful smile that could light up a room. Special thanks for Rob's good
care provided by chemo nurse Judy from Lion's Gate, our family physician Dr.
Richard Horner and Dr. Karen Gelmon of the BC Cancer Agency. In honouring

Baldwin, and Ann Faustman, and their families. Vern was predeceased by one
son, Scott in 1999; and his parents, Wilhelm and Emelia Krastel. The Funeral

McKEA _ Rose Audrey Jean, born August 30, 1916 in Canora SK., passed away
July 24, 2005 in Burnaby, BC. Lovingly remembered by husband Collin; by
children, Sharon (Robert) Slocum of Stamford, Conn.; Margaret of Burnaby,
Donna (Jacob) Neufeld of Burnaby, Stuart (Margot) of Salzburg, Austria,
Robert of Vancouver; by grandsons, Joshua and Jamie Slocum, by
great-granddaughter Ava Slocum; by brothers, Pat Fernets of Preeceville, SK
and Ken (Carmelita) Fernets of Vernon, BC; sisters-in-law Carrie and Vicki
Fernets of Saskatoon, SK and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased
by parents Julia (nee Luchak) and Martin Fernets; brothers Jack, Joe, Larry,
Jerry and sister Margaret. To celebrate her life, we're having a garden
party amidst her flowers. Donations in memory of Rose may be made to St.

McKee, Peter Mark
McKEE _ Peter Mark, 1952-2005, died suddenly after a short illness at the
Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, British Columbia. Predeceased
by his parents Gordon and Margaret McKee (nee Miller); he will be sadly and
lovingly missed by his wife Orline; daughter Sheilan (Terry); grandchildren
Travis and Tiffany; his brother John (Heather); and a host of friends and
extended family who will remember him as a loving friend and helpmate to all
he met. Born in London, Ontario, he moved with his parents to his beloved
British Columbia in 1967, where his love for the outdoors led him to make a
career as a woodsman and later as a journeyman ironworker with local 97 with
whom he worked throughout the province. Known by his many friends and
co-workers for his love of life, his positive outlook, his willingness to
drop everything to help, and his wisdom in the ways of the world, which he
shared with all he met. He was happiest spending time in the outdoors,
riding his '83 Shovel Harley and playing with his grandchildren. A Memorial
Service and reception for friends will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005,
at 1:00 pm, at Columbia-Bowell Funeral Chapel at 219 - 6th Street, New
Westminster, BC. Inurnment will be held at a later time at the Fraser
Cemetery in New Westminster. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a

Moran, Margaret "Peggy"
MORAN _ Margaret "Peggy", born September 18, 1926. After surviving many
insurmountable medical obstacles Peggy unexpectedly passed away on July 22,
2005 at St. Paul's Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Ab in 1993.
Peggy is survived by children, Eileen, Steve and Pat and grandchildren,
Shaun, Kelly, Lindsey and Tammy. She will be remembered for her feisty
personality and her tireless will to live. Thanks to all her many friends,
especially those at Neighbour's Restaurant, the drugstore, the bank and
dialysis unit at St Paul's Hospital. You all gave her a reason for living.

Rees, Laura Annabelle
REES _ Laura Annabelle, born at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on January 26, 1920,
passed away at home on July 22nd, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 43
years, Dick, who lovingly cared for her at home since she was diagnosed with
MS eight years ago. She is also survived by her son Allan Callard (wife
Linda); granddaughters Nancy and Melissa; and great-grandsons Stewart and
Nicholas. Laura served in the Armed Forces during WWII. She was a member of
the Order of the Eastern Star in Langley for over 50 years. She was a member
of Sharon United Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School
for 15 years. Previous to retiring, she worked at Shoppers Drug Mart. Laura
cared greatly for the community of Langley as was demonstrated by the recent
donation of land by her and her husband for a park in Brookswood. The family
wishes to thank Dr. Hugh Aspinall and special friends and neighbours. A
Memorial Service will be held at Sharon United Church, Murrayville, on
Wednesday, July 27th, at 1:00pm. If so desired, in lieu of flowers,

23, 2005 in Burnaby. Predeceased by her husband Siegfried in 1993. Survived
by her son Wally (Maureen), their children, Susan (Barry), Kimberly (Jesse)
and Lilli's great-granddaughters, Shayla and Tamryn. Daughter Elvira (Ken),

be held on Thursday, July 28th at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Ocean View

Sorfleet, John M.
SORFLEET _ Lt. Col. (Retired) John M., CD, died suddenly, of a stroke,
Friday, 22 July, 2005. Born November 17, 1924. Raised in the Red Lion Pub in
Spilsby, Lincolnshire, until his father's death when he was 9 years old.
John became a skilled piano player and accordionist in his teens, and joined
the RAF at 18. He was sent to Canada for pilot training under the British
Commonwealth Air Training Plan, where he met and married Evelyn, a member of
the RCAF Women's Division. After his demobilization, they returned to Canada
and settled in Manitoba, where John worked as an electrician before joining
the RCAF. His postings included Saskatoon, Centralia, Bagotville, North Bay,
Cold Lake, Ottawa, Downsview, Cape Canaveral, St. Hubert, Comox and Hall
Beach (DEW Line). After retirement, he worked in the aviation industry and
then rejoined the Canadian Forces, directing the British Columbia Air Cadet
Glider Training Program before finally retiring in 1985. A friend to many,
John was predeceased by his son, Captain Jim Sorfleet (m. Hope); and is
survived by his loving wife Evelyn; children John (Bob, m. Elizabeth), Ken
(m. Rosemary), and Marjorie (m. Roger); and five wonderful grandchildren:
Winston, Dana, Christopher, Patrick and Katie. Our thanks to the doctors and
nurses at VGH Emergency for their wonderful care. Instead of flowers, John
and the family would prefer donations to the MS Society, in appreciation of
granddaughter Dana Sorfleet. Memorial celebration of John's life to be held
at First Memorial, Fraser and Kingsway, 12:00 noon, Wednesday, July 28th.

SUN _ Raymond (Shuen Gum Choy) passed away peacefully on July 22, 2005
10:35am at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital. He is survived by his wife of thirty
years, Yau Ho; his children, John, Maling, and Gordon; and his two brothers,
Howard and Arthur. Born in Chungsan, China, Raymond immigrated to Canada and
became a proud Canadian citizen in 1971. He came to Canada to join the rest
of his immediate family (parents and brothers). With his parents and two
brothers, Raymond successfully started a line of "Mom and Pop" grocery
stores, one to name, Suburban Market on 57th & Main Street, which closed in
2003. He instilled a great presence within the community of South Vancouver
which the surviving family continues to hear from past customers about their
positive experience and encounters with Raymond. He also had a keen housing
market sense which enabled him to acquire multiple properties. Upon
retirement he avidly traveled around the world with his wife and children.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 8:45am at Mount
Pleasant Universal Funeral Home at 306 East 11th Ave., Vancouver, BC.

Thorneycroft_ Sam Kemp, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2005. Predeceased
by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris. Lovingly remembered by his daughters,
Susan Uegama (Vic), Dodie Wood, Wendy Lindsay (Mac); sons Doug (Cathie) and
Gord (Tracey); sisters Mabel Hurford of Lantzville and Dorothy Curran of
Ottawa. Also missed and remembered by his grandchildren Jeff (Erin),
Jennifer (Anthony), Mike (Sandy), Robin (Matt) and Kristy. Sam was a loving
father and was lovingly devoted to his darling Doris. Throughout his life,
he enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, gardening and fishing. Sam was born
in Nanaimo, B.C., in 1918. He lived there until joining the RCAF in 1940. He
married Doris in December 1941 before being sent overseas. After the war,
they lived in the Army Camp at Little Mountain while he attended UBC. Sam
was a Professional Engineer and had a long career with Crown
Zellerbach/Fletcher Challenge. The family lived in Ocean Falls for six
years, moving to Vancouver in 1956, where he has lived since. Sam's family
would like to thank the staff at Sunrise of Vancouver for their
compassionate care of Dad. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm, July 27,
2005, at First Memorial Services, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
