Aune, Della Fredora
AUNE, Della Fredora Passed away peacefully on August 8th in her 77th year
with her family by her side. Survived by her loving sons: Darrel (Vicki),
Dale (Sharon), grandchildren: Michelle, Ryan, Dale Jr. (Jen), Dan
(Courtney), Terri, Kim and lovingly known as Grandma G.G. to Taylor and
Dawson. Della will always be remembered as an avid sports fan nicknamed
Abdul" by her oldest son Darrel, she supported her sons and grandchildren at
baseball, soccer, football, basketball and rugby. She was our rock. Family
always came first to Mom and she enjoyed life to the fullest with us and her
closest friends Thelma and Linda. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 am
on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise
Drive. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation. 130124

Bagley, Tom
BAGLEY, Tom Born March 15, 1915 passed away peacefully August 9, 2005. Tom
was born in Southampton, England. He came to Canada in 1947. In 1988 he was
predeceased by Helen, his wife of 51 years, and his only son Peter in 1991.
Tom is survived by his loving daughter Marian Haime. A much loved Grumpy" to
his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service
will be held at 10:00 am at the Royal Oak Burial Park on Friday, August
12th, 2005 with a reception to follow at 3325 Keats Street, Victoria, B.C.

Bracke, William
BRACKE, William Died August 8, 2005 at the age of 65. His spirit remains
unbroken. Survived and remembered with love by his wife, Donna, and his
children, Christopher, Michael, and Lisa, as well as by extended family and
friends. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m. at St.
Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 785 Burnside Road West. In lieu of

BROWNING, Peter Cecil Born September 17, 1928. Suddenly passed away on
August 4, 2005. He is survived by 7 children; Sarah, Michael, Emily, Cecile,
Elizabeth, Nola and Steven; with 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and
many other relatives. Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros., 1400
Vancouver St on Friday, August 12 at 10:00am. Donations can be made to the

Cowan, Ivy Henrietta
COWAN, Ivy Henrietta July 18, 2005 Born 12 April 1913 in Belfast, Ireland to
William and Henrietta Cowan. Predeceased by brothers William (1982) and
David (1979), sister, Etta Bolick (1974), niece, Sharon Houghton (1999), and
nephew, John Bolick (1998). Survived by her nieces Barbara Bolick of
Prosser, Washington and Linda Swearingen of Lewiston, Idaho and
sister-in-law, Barbara Cowan of Surrey, BC. Ivy was an excellent secretary
and continued to learn and do good works after her retirement 30 years ago.
Died peacefully in her own home and will be sorely missed by both family and
friends (Don and Betty Barwise) alike. 130526

Cresswell, Dennis "Duck"

CRESSWELL Dennis (Duck) Died August 1, 2005 from complications of Melanoma
skin cancer at the tender age of 55 years. Survived by his wife Brenda;
sister and brother-in-law, Dalores and Ian Fraser; niece Laurie Dumas;
nephew, Gregg Fraser; each with their respective families and "Bayley "
bunch. Dennis' passions in life were golf, work, friends and family and
coming home to his house in the Highlands. Dennis' career was in the
Hospitality Industry where he spent the last 15 years at the Fairmont
Empress taking care of people. In a fitting end he and our family spent his
last days in the caring hands of the staff at the Victoria Hospice to whom
we owe our heartfelt gratitude. Memorial Services to be held at the Caleb
Pike Homestead, Sunday, August 14th at 4:00 p.m. Should you not be able to
attend, a random act of kindness in "The Duck's " memory would have made him
smile. 126720

FYVIE, Marie Passed away suddenly in Victoria, BC on August 8, 2005 at the
age of 88. Predeceased by her husband Dave in 1996 she will be missed by her
children; Sandy (Bill) Wilson of Wasa, BC, Bob (Marlys) of Calgary, Brenda
(Bill) Jennings of Sooke, BC, six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Interment will take place at Hatley Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 12,

1803 Quadra Street on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with reception

MUDIE, Sydney October 13th, 1927 August 3rd, 2005 Syd died unexpectedly on
August 3, 2005. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Elaine,
his wife of 56 years and also by his son Richard (Isolde) and daughter
Stephanie (Robert) and grandchildren: Sydney, Spencer, Jean and Matthew. Syd
worked in the Auto-Body and Auto Service fields. He worked at Ensign Motors
for 15 years as a Body Shop Manager and then as a Service Department
Manager. He then ran his own Auto-Body repair and paint shop for 10 years
until he retired. He and Elaine had many enjoyable trips. He also enjoyed
swimming and Lawn Bowling. He was a member of Royal Colwood Golf Club for 43
years and loved the game. A celebration of Syd's life will be held Monday,
August 15th, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Royal Colwood Golf Club. In lieu of
flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. 130302

Shortt, James Campbell

SHORTT, James Campbell July 7, 1906 August 6, 2005 It is with deep sadness
that we announce the sudden passing of Jimmy, a true Alberta Pioneer. Jimmy
was born at his father's ranch (Hub) near Priddis, Alberta, son of George
Scott Shortt and Janette Isabelle Campbell. At age 19 in 1923, he
apprenticed in the watchmaker arts and followed his trade for the balance of
his business career. He brought great distinction to his career receiving
awards for his talent and ethical conduct. He retired in 1971, and moved
from Calgary in 1992 to Victoria. He is survived by his loving and most
caring wife, Blazenka; brother, Laurence Douglas; nephews, Stanley (Eunie),
Keith (Marilyn) and their respective families; Sheila Shortt of Calgary,
Alberta; very special friend, Angela Sforza as well as many other friends.
Jimmy is predeceased by his mother, father and his first wife Marie; and
brothers: John Hudson (Jack), George Stanley, Morris Archibald (Moe),
William Clarence (Bill) and Donald Roland Shortt. Jimmy had a wonderful
sense of humour and a sharp wit enjoyed by all. He will be truly missed.
Friends may pay their respects at McCall Bros. Chapel, on Wednesday, August
10th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to the Funeral
Service to be held at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver
Streets, on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow
in the Graham & Torrey McCall Family Centre. James Campbell Shortt will be
buried in Olds, Alberta in the spirit befitting a true Alberta pioneer. He
will be truly missed and leaves behind wonderful memories to be cherished by
family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart &
Stroke Foundation of B.C. A very special thanks to Drs Anthony Nielsen, Gary
Steinhoff and Thomas W. Christensen for their care and attention to Jimmy.

Wurtz, Robert Lyle "Bob"
WURTZ, Robert Lyle (Bob) It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of our father on August 3, 2005. Predeceased by his parents Arthur
and Alice Wurtz, he leaves behind his beloved sons Michael (Stacey) and Tony
(Christine), twin grandchildren Tyson and Hailey, sister Gladys (Bud),
nephew Bill, nieces Lorie and Linda, and his dear friend Marcie. Bob served
with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Mechanical Engineer from 1960 until his
retirement in 1989. His final years were spent travelling and enjoying life.
As per his wishes, no funeral service, but a tea for those wishing to pay
their respects will be held at 2929 Julie Ann Place, Friday, August 12, 2005
at 1:00 pm. 129833
