Scardera, Pietrantonio "Peter" (Memoriam)
Photo
Pietrantonio (Peter) Scardera August 14, 1933 - October 24, 2004 You left us
with courage, dignity, respect and oh so much love. You made dying seem so
easy. You never complained and always said "I'm OK". Cancer may have killed
you, but it could not kill your spirit, the memories and love we feel that
is forever. - Your four loving daughters, Linda, Catherine, Maria and
Victoria.

Simpson, Dr. Carl
Photo
SIMPSON _ Dr. Carl January 4, 1923 - October 21, 2005 Carl was born in
Vancouver to parents Ada and Matthew Simpson. He attended General Wolfe
Elementary School, John Oliver High and UBC. He received his medical degree
from the University of Western Ontario in 1951. Carl was fond of telling of
his many interesting experiences during these years - such as driving taxi
in Vancouver, tagging fish at Hell's Gate and invading Comox with the
military reserves. He spent his long medical career in general practice at
17th and Cambie in Vancouver, with many nights spent rushing off to deliver
babies and make emergency house calls. He was lucky to have many supportive
families as patients and often came home bearing gifts of spanakopita and
other goodies. Dr. Carl was an avid fly fisherman, birdwatcher, traveller
and outdoorsman. A skier from the early years of hiking up Hollyburn and
Grouse and the opening of Whistler, he had his last days of skiing on Grouse
Mountain at age 80. Carl especially enjoyed his cabin at Point Roberts,
walking and crabbing with a selection of dogs that predeceased him, possibly
due to over-exercise. He also loved working in his garden at Point Roberts,
making sauces out of the proceeds and sipping a glass of wine on the back
porch. He will be greatly missed by his wife Betty; daughter Trish; son
Carl; grandchildren Henri, Curtis, Josephine and Lucy; son-in-law Brad;
daughter-in-law Patty; closet relative Ann Mcnab; and many other good
friends and relations. He will also be missed by his cat Cosmo, which he has
carefully nurtured back to health over the past three years. A memorial
gathering will be held Saturday, October 29 at "Seasons in the Park", Queen
Elizabeth Park, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Cancer
Society or any environmental group would be appreciated.

Vandal, Raymond Claude
Photo
VANDAL _ Raymond Claude It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of Raymond Vandal on Thursday, October 20, 2005 surrounded by his
soul mate and wife, his children and his sister. Raymond was born on August
10th, 1944, in Morris, Manitoba. "Caribou" grew up in St. Boniface, Manitoba
moving to B.C. in 1974. He worked for Nestle Canada for 29 years retiring in
2004. Raymond was a very charismatic man and touched many people in his
life, friends, co-workers, clients, and most of all his family. A people
lover, always with a story to tell, Raymond made an indelible impression on
everyone he ever met. Raymond loved being both a father and grandfather and
devoted many hours to his grandchildren Zachary and Georgia. He never missed
a hockey game of Zachary's and spent countless hours playing "camping" with
Georgia. Raymond loved to travel with his wife, family, and friends. He got
to see much of the world, enjoying the beaches of Hawaii, the cafes of
Paris, the piazzas of Rome and many more adventures too numerous to mention.
He also truly loved the natural beauty of the B.C. landscape and spent many
hours bike riding along the trails of Burnaby Mountain. He was pre-deceased
by his younger brother Richard, his mother Flore and father Germain, mother
in-law Marie, father in-law Julien, and brother in-law Romeo. Raymond will
be deeply missed by his loving wife of 37 years Marguerite, daughters Kristi
(John Miller) and Lacey (Ben Walsh) and two precious grandchildren Zachary
and Georgia. They were the joys of his life. He is also survived by his
sisters Claudette, Darlene (Chris Macey), and Suzette (Kevin Bungay) and too
many nieces, nephews and very close friends to mention. He will be missed by
us all but we are all better for having known him. Memorial services will be
