BARRINGER _ William George, born January 8, 1914, died peacefully on July 9,
2006, at West Vancouver, B.C. Predeceased by his wife, "Nan", Bill is
survived by his daughter Anne and her husband David O'Brien; his
grandchildren, Kelly and her husband Terence, David and his wife Zoe and
Jamie. He leaves, also, his three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Emma and Liam.
He was a long-time employee of Crown Zellerbach, in Ocean Falls and
Vancouver. In his retirement, he managed the nut farm in Fort Langley. Many
thanks to Dr. Garry Jenkins and the wonderful staff of Inglewood Care Centre
for the special care Dad received while there. Private family service

BATTISTONI _ Josephine Born on May 14, 1908 at Agassiz, B.C. Passed away
July 9, 2006 at the Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. with family at her
bedside. Josie was predeceased by her husband Cyril on January 14, 2006;
sister, Suzie, Margaret and Jenny. She leaves behind son Cyril (Pat),
grandchildren, David (Bonnie), Bruce (Yvonne), Lisa (Les) and Pamela (Dave);
great-grandchildren, Corey, Carmen, Christopher, Colin, Steven, April and

BEAULIEU _ Yvette Marie Born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 15, 1934. Yvette
passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital on July 11, 2006 in the
presence of her loving family. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Emile
of 51 years and 4 children: Brian, Michelle (Mike) Norman, Marc (Elke),
Colette Young and 11 grandchildren. Also mourning her loss are her 2 sisters
France and Joanne and 1 brother Guy. Predeceased by an infant daughter
Carol-Anne in 1961. A greatly loving wife, mother and grandmother. Yvette
loved to do petit point, knitting and crocheting. Yvette donated many
blankets she made to the Special Care Nursery at Children's Hospital.
Prayers will be held on Monday July 17th, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, B.C. Funeral Mass will follow at
St. Mary's Tuesday July 18th, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. with burial at St. Mary's

BLAIR _ Walter On July 13, 2006, Walter Blair of St. Albert passed away at
the age of 82 years. Walter is survived by his loving family: his children
Martin (Karen) Blair and their children, Aaron and Leigh. daughter Veryan
Thompson and her children, Kent and Carlee (Lee) Thompson; and by his
great-grandchildren Taylor and Nathan. He was predeceased by his wife June
Blair on July 5, 2006, and by one sister and three brothers. Walter spent
his early years in British Columbia and his more recent year in St. Albert,
Alberta. He served overseas during WWII and was a dedicated member of the
Royal Canadian Legion. A Memorial Service will be held at
Connelly-McKinley - St. Albert Chapel on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:00 am
with Reverend Fred Lane officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations

Butler, Mary Isabel (nee Dobson) July 11, 2006, peacefully in Sechelt, B.C.,
aged 98 years, daughter of Hattie Dean Sharman and George Dobson. Mary was
born in Calgary, Alberta on July 7th 1908. She married Gordon Henry Butler
who predeceased her, as did her brother George Dobson and sister Helen
McGregor. Both Mary and Gordon were descendents of early Stratford, Ontario
pioneers. In her early years, Mary participated in the first "Great Trek'"
to U.B.C. She graduated with Honours from the Vancouver Normal School and at
age 18, went north to Quesnel to teach in a one-roomed school. Her middle
years were devoted to family life in Dunbar. Her strong affiliation with
Dunbar Heights United Church led to her being Superintendent of the Sunday
School with an enrolment of nearly 400 children. She took great interest in,
and gave support to, her sons' academic, sporting and scouting activities
and gave constant loving encouragement to her immediate and wider family,
even into their adult lives. Mary found enjoyment in her family and Church.
She was bright and alert to the end, and for example, was able to recite,
without error, large parts of Tennyson's poem "Morte d' Arthur". Mary is
survived by her three sons, David (Marjorie) of Toronto, John (Jeanne) of
Granthams Landing and Dean (Gail) of Sechelt; grandchildren, Andrew and Ian,
Cheryl and Jeanette, and Jason; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Hayley and
Morgan. A service will be held at Dunbar Heights United Church, 3525 West
24th Avenue, Vancouver, on Tuesday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. The family
thanks Ina Grafe and the staff at Shorncliffe, Sechelt for their loving care

CRUDO _ Luigi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the age of
98 years old. He was born in 1907, and was only a few weeks away from
celebrating his 99th birthday on August 2nd. Luigi immigrated to Canada from
Taurianova, Italy in 1952 to prepare the foundations of a new life for his
family, then comprised of his wife, four sons, and a daughter who joined him
in 1954. A year later a second daughter was born. Luigi worked tirelessly
along with his wife Giuseppina to provide the very best for his family,
which meant everything to him. He liked nothing better than to be surrounded
by family. As a young man and into his middle years, he loved to go on
hunting trips with his friends. He was a superb gardener and was among one
of the first to plant a fig tree in Vancouver, from which sprouted many
others from cuttings he gave to friends and family. Luigi, the husband, the
father, the grand and great-grandfather and friend will remain forever in
our hearts and be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his
loving family; wife, Giuseppina; children, Joseph (Rosetta), Franco (Anna),
Maria (Dean), Roberto (Rita), Mario, Rosi: 11 grandchildren, and 11
great-grandchildren. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at
7:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street. Funeral
Services will be held on Monday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of

DARNEY _ John. Born in Merritt July 5, 1912 died peacefully on July 8, 2006.
John moved to Port Moody in 1917. Predeceased by his wife Mavis, sisters
Vera and Edna, and granddaughter Robyn. Lovingly remembered by daughter
Janet (Pat); son Bob (Mary Anne); grandchildren Anne-Marie (David), Paddy
(Angie), Jack and Lissy; great-grandchildren Owen, Brendan, and Lyra-Kate;
sister Mildred; 6 nieces and nephews and other family. After 40 years in the
oil industry he retired to pursue his love of hunting, fishing, golf, and
woodworking. During his lifetime he was an active member in the Port Moody
Community. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, on Friday, July 21,
2006 at St. John's Anglican Church in Port Moody (2208 St. John's Street).

DONOVAN _ James Paul August 10, 1975 - July 11, 2006 James Paul Donovan of
North Vancouver, passed away as a result of injuries from a car accident.
James was born and raised in Laval, Quebec and moved to Vancouver in 1996.
After working at Quantum he pursued his dream of becoming a Chef, graduating
from Pacific Culinary Institute, and realized his dream working at Glowbal
Grill in Yaletown. As much as he loved his career, he loved his family more.
He is survived by two beautiful girls Brooklyn (5) and Hope (3), and his
wife Teresa, his parents Bill and Gisele of Lefaivre ON, brother William
(Terri) of Beaverton ON, and his in-laws Merv and Marlene of Rossland, his
best friend Jim of White Rock, and many family and friends.Known to all as
the "gentle soul with a big smile" and the best Dad in the world. Always
ready to lend a helping hand, play street hockey with the kids and share a
laugh with his neighbours. His passion for life, his love for the Flyers,
and his love for his family will be forever missed. A service will be held
Saturday, July 15 at Noon at the Vancouver Rowing Club in Stanley Park.

Beloved son of Ivamae Fisher and Patrick Gerald Ferguson of Ottawa, Ontario.
Fergie is lovingly remembered by his family: his sons Mark and Keith
(Denise); 4 grandchildren Kayla, Brandon, Alyssa and Matthew. He is also
remembered by brother Barry (Sandy), sisters Wendy and Geraldine nieces and

GILCHRIST _ Darin Lee It is with great sorrow that the family of Darin Lee
Gilchrist announce his sudden and untimely passing. Darin was a unique and
artistic soul who left an impression on all who met him. He faced many
struggles in his too-short life, but always met the face of adversity with
courage and fire. Darin was devoted to his family, hard-working and had a
passion for automobiles, music, art and gardening. Born and raised in the
Vancouver/Burnaby area, Darin made his home in Vernon for the past nine
years until God called him Home to Heaven. Left to mourn and cherish his
memory are his best friend and wife of 16 years, Shirley; two beautiful
sons, Trevor Lee and Tristen Alexander; his mother, Shirley Egan (Mark); a
half-sister, Cheryl Pommer (Mitchell) and many, many aunties, uncles,
cousins, extended family members and friends. A Celebration of Darin's Life
will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 17th, 2006 at 1:00
p.m. with Pastor and family friend, Byron Grant officiating. Cremation will

HARGIE _ Donna Mary (nee Atkins) of New Westminster passed away on July 11,
2006 at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with ALS. Predeceased by
husband Gary. Survived by daughters Lori (John), Jana (Bob), Jennifer; son
Billy; and seven grandchildren. Also survived by brother Lorne (Doreen),
sister-in-law Kay, as well as nieces, nephews and their families. Service

KOZAK _ Bernice "Bea" (nee STEWART) passed away suddenly, but peacefully at
home, in her sleep, on July 9, 2006. She was 75 years old. She will be
deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Tony and sister Lucille. Unfortunately,
her brother Ralph passed away in Calgary on July 10, 2006. Bea is survived
by her sister Stella Herlihy, daughter Dianne (Jim Brown), son Larry

LARIVEE _ Dean, late of Abbotsford, passed away on July 10, 2006 at the age
of 56 years. He is survived by his loving wife Sue, children Aimee, Deanna,
Joey, Sheena and Dennis, brother Doug (Carol), and mother Ruth. He was
predeceased by his father. Dean began his career in the fire service in
North Vancouver in 1978, from 1998 until present he was Captain of the
training division of the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service. His love of
athletics included hockey, baseball and his great love, golf. Dean fought a
courageous battle with Leukemia. Throughout his treatment he kept his
positive attitude and sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at 1:00 pm at Abbotsford
Pentecostal Assembly 3145 Gladwin Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

MATTHEWS _ Jean Ellen (nee Johnston) 1917 - 2006 Ellen passed away
peacefully on June 30, 2006 after a full, active and happy life. Ellen spent
most of her years in Victoria, moving to Vancouver in 2003. She had a
successful business career as the owner of Smith's Book and Card Shop and
was an active community worker. Ellen was an Honourary Life Member of
Seniors Serving Seniors, first coordinating the seniors aid shop and then,
ten years ago, starting the Seniors In Stitches group. Ellen and her
husband, Harold, were Life Members of the Thetis Park Nature Sanctuary
Association and contributed many hours to it. Ellen was predeceased by her
husband, Harold, her brothers, Stanley and Donald and her sisters, Ethel,
Molly Napier and Betty Griffith. She was dearly loved and is fondly
remembered by her nieces, Donna McDonald (Robert), Mary Graham (Doug), Patsy
Stoddart (Bob) and her nephews, Ron Johnston (Dorthea) and Don Cameron (Su),
her sister-in-law, Betty Teasdale and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 25th, at 2:00 p.m. at First
Metropolitan United Church, 932 Balmoral Road (at Quadra Street), Victoria,
B.C. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Seniors Serving Seniors, Suite 109 -

MUNDAY _ Mary. It is with much sorrow that the family announces the passing
of a loving wife, dear mother and friend, Mary Munday on July 8th, 2006 at
Peace Arch Hospital. Mary is survived by her husband Chester of 61 years; 1
son Michael of Berwick, Nova Scotia; 3 daughters Leslie and Deborrah in
Nanaimo and Cathy in Winnipeg. Mary is also survived by a dear niece Carol
in Worseley, England. Mary is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren. Mary arrived in Canada in September of 1946 with a six
month old son Michael, married as a war bride. Mary was a leader in Girl
Guides in many places in Canada and Germany. A Memorial Service will be held
at the Church of Holy Trinity, White Rock on Friday, July 28th at 2:30 p.m.

NATTRASS _ Wayne, on June 20th, 2006. Wayne was born June 23, 1946 in
Lethbridge, Alberta, the only son of Lyle and Mildred Nattrass. He got his
degree from U of A in Edmonton. Wayne is survived by his mother Mildred in
Lethbridge, sisters Donna Mae and Lynn in Calgary; a daughter Star and 3
step-daughters, Megan, Kay and Kyra. A memorial Celebration will be held at
1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15 at the Canadian Memorial Centre, 1825 W. 16th
Avenue, Vancouver, followed by a potluck luncheon. Wayne will be sorely

OAKE _ Charles Roy May 14, 1925 - July 12, 2006 Passed away peacefully at
his home in Burnaby with children, grandchildren and his wife of 61 years,
Pearl by his side. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Charlie spent his life
time applying his unique gift of humour and passion in both his personal and
professional life, leaving an impact on everyone he has met. He is survived
by his wife Pearl (nee Morrison) and 4 sons Carl (Tana), Peterborough,
Ontario, Ken (Linda), Kelowna, Kevin (Tracey), Coquitlam, Keith (Liana),
Coquitlam, also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 4 great children and one
brother Walter (Francis) and one sister Mildred (Fred), both of Nova Scotia.
To the end, a loyal husband, father, brother and friend, he will always be
missed but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held at Cliff Avenue
United Church, North Burnaby at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2006.

PINILI _ Paul A., age 33, passed away at Royal Columbian Hospital on Sunday,
July 9, 2006 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He will be terribly
missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal and

PIRLICH _ Maria Luisa (de Ancira) It is with broken hearts we announce the
passing of our beloved wife, mother & "Omi", on Tuesday July 11th, 2006
after a long struggle with cancer at St. Michael's Centre in Burnaby. Maria
Luisa leaves behind her devoted husband of 49 years Horst, her loving
daughters Liz (Brian) and Erica (Shane) as well as her much loved grandson
Daniel (Leah). She will be sadly missed by many family members in Mexico.

POWER _ Darlene Ethel December 16, 1945- July 9, 2006 Predeceased by mom,
dad, stepfather, step mother. Survived by her sons Rob and Gerry; brother
Mike (Diane) and children Cory, Mike, Brandon, Dakota; brother Pat and
children Michelle, Vicky, Crystal; sister Wendy and children Tracey, Aarron,
Jamie-Leigh, Shane; sister Rose (Gerald) and children Danny, Colleen;
numerous great-nieces and nephews; her Aunt Mary; and very best friends.
After a long battle with liver disease Darlene succumbed after a very short
stay in Surrey Memorial Hospital. We wish to thank all the nurses and staff
on 3 east and her final place, I.C.U. and her nurse Sharon who did
everything possible to help Darlene and her family to make the transition.
Darlene was a proud member of A.A. and N.A. for 23 years and died clean and
sober after living her life one day at a time. A celebration of her life
will be on Monday, July 17 2006 at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel at 3:00, 1835
East Hastings Street.

PREFONTAINE _ Frank Alexander (1927 - 2006) Our Husband, Dad, Grampa,
Brother and Uncle died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 11, 2006. He
is survived and greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 55 years,
Marjorie, his sister Claire, his daughter Sue, sons Ron (Annabel), Gerry,
Rene (Evelyn) and Paul (Terry). Grampa's memory will live forever in the
hearts of his cherished grandchildren Brad, Greg, Meghan, John, Tim, Andrew,
Nicholas, Holly, Corey, Jennifer, Kate and Keith. Frank will be remembered
by his half sister and brother Lavonne (Les) and Roy, his sisters-in-law Pat
and Nora, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many old friends. Special
thanks to the staff at Queen's Park Day Hospital for their kindness and
caring...and to Dr. P. Mallette. Frank loved life in his lofty perch and
spent many hours watching the trains, tugs, and all the action on the
"Mighty Fraser." A celebration of Frank's life will be held at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church at 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver on July 18, 2006 at
11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the Mass in the Church Hall.
Final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of

SPILLER _ Carol (Ann) nee Houghton December 21, 1944 - July 9, 2006 After a
courageous and dignified struggle with cancer, Carol died peacefully, with
family and friends at her side, in the Palliative Care Unit of Richmond
General Hospital. Beloved wife and mother: Carol was a devoted wife to Ken
and a loving caring mother to sons Albert and Rob. Carol will be lovingly
remembered by her family: sisters Vera Crowley, Irene Adams, Jean (Frank)
LaLeune, brother Jim (Virginia) Houghton, brother-in-law Wilf Crowe,
mother-in-law Mabel Masson, sister-in-law Bessie (Delmar) Jack,
sister-in-law Jean (Ted) Selnis and brother-in-law Don Spiller, as well as
numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol will be remembered for her kind
and generous nature in helping her family, friends and her community. She
impacted the lives of many and she will be greatly missed. A reception to
celebrate Carol's life will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2006 from 2:00 -
4:00 p.m. at Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond, BC. In lieu

STUART _ John Roberts Allan slipped peacefully away surrounded by family on
July 8, 2006 to be reunited with his beloved wife Dorothy who predeceased
him on September 29, 2005. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter,
Glenda; son, Don; 2 grandchildren, Katie and Ted; extended family members;
and friends. John, who proudly celebrated his 90th birthday on June 14,
2006, was an energetic and kind spirit and a dedicated husband and father.
He was a WWII veteran. John taught English at John Oliver High School before
becoming a primary school administrator. Gardening was his passion and he
was quick to share his flowers and produce. He also enjoyed building,
renovating, travelling and playing the piano and organ. The family would
like to thank all who visited and cared for John during his final year of
declining health. Special thanks to Andrea and Priscilla for their kindness,
care, and dedication. You were his angels. A memorial service will be held
Saturday, July 15, at 2:00 p.m. at West Vancouver Presbyterian Church, 2893

TEIGEN _ Egil (Ed) May 21, 1906 - July 9, 2006 Ed was born in Norway and
immigrated to Canada in 1927. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years,
Selma, and his second wife of 9 years, Gertie. He is survived by his three
children, Janet, Edward (June) and Larry (Sheri), eight grandchildren, 8
great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, both in Norway and
Canada. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A Memorial
Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 11770 West
St., Maple Ridge, B.C. on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 2 p.m.

TEMPLETON _ John Malcolm, born November 6, 1911, passed away peacefully July
11, 2006. Survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Edy, loving children,
Judith and John Jr. He also leaves behind loving relatives, sister-in-law
Ghislaine Sullivan, her sons Paul and Mark, sister-in-law Bernice Grey her
sons Peter and Jim, daughters Susan McCloud and Mary Jane Reid. He came to
Winnipeg, Manitoba at 5 years old from Greenock, Scotland and settled there
and learned to love hockey. His hockey team The Wembley Canadians went to
London, England to play one of the first ice hockey games the English fans
had ever seen and they loved it. He returned to Canada to play with the
Calgary Stampeders. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served until the war
ended. His death occurred as a result of Alzheimers Disease. In lieu of
flowers, donations made to The Alzheimer Society of BC appreciated. The
funeral will be postponed until his daughter Judith flies from her home in
Ecuador.

her side. Our dear Aiti was predeceased by beloved husband Leo and dearest
