CRIGHTON, Robert (Stubby) March 5, 1915 June 17, 2007 After a lovely visit
on Father's Day, Dad left us to be with mom (Ethel) in Heaven. Dad served in
the RCN for 25 years. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean
War. He was a member of the Chief & P.O.'s Ass'n. Dad was a retired Captain
with the BC Ferries. He is survived by his children, David (Ausilia), Glenn
(Katherine), Heather, granddaughters Lyndsay, Mellisa and great
granddaughter Cheylon, who always made him smile. We will miss your smile,
laughter, singing and the words ""I am a Scotsman"". No service by Dad's

DUNBAR, John (Jock) Passed away peacefully on June 19, 2007 in Victoria,
B.C. Born on March 9, 1926 in Keith, Scotland, and came to Canada in 1948.
Sadly missed by his loving wife Joan; daughter, Sheena Hanbury; son, Scott
(Kathy) and grandchildren; Douglas, Paul, Stephanie and Sierra. Jock moved
to Victoria in 1950 where he met Joan and together they led a very active
life. Jock was a well known personality through his work in radio and most
of all his love of singing and entertaining. Many thanks to the wonderful,
caring staff at Glenwarren Lodge and Dr. Kier MacMillan. In keeping with
Jock's wishes, no service will be held. His life will be celebrated quietly
by his family. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the

GREEN, Janice Lynn (nee Austin) It is with great sadness that we announce
the passing of our mother, Jan, on June 14, 2007. Predeceased by husband
Howard, father Fred and nephew Timothy. She is survived by her loving
family, partner Henry; daughter Carolyn (Bart); son Michael; mother Betty
(Rod); sister Sharon (Ted); nephews, Clayton and Mike; grandchildren,
Angalica, Ryan, Courtney, Cassidy, Cayden and many friends and family. Jan
worked for many years with the Sooke School District. She was very proud of
her accomplishments in becoming a teachers aid, and working as an
interpreter for the hearing impaired. After retirement, she volunteered many
years to Project Literacy. Jan touched the lives of many who knew her. Her
smile, her thoughtfulness and her love for humor will never be forgotten.

HARRIS, Jessie Suzie" Drew (nee Campbell) Jessie passed away early Sunday
morning June 17, 2007 at the age of 89. She was born February 24, 1918 in
Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Jessie served in the Women's Auxiliary Air
Force (WAAF) during the war, obtaining her officer's commission. She married
John (Jack) Boyd Harris, of Glasgow on July 12, 1945 and they immigrated to
Toronto, Canada soon after. After the birth of their first son Ross, they
moved to Victoria in 1954 and son Colin arrived in 1957. Jessie resided in
the Cadboro Bay area for 53 years. In addition to being a home-maker Jessie
worked at Woodwards Department Store as a drapery specialist for 20 years.
She was active in St. Andrews Presbyterian, then attended Cadboro Bay
United, and finally Lambrick Park Church. In her retirement years she worked
in the Royal Jubilee gift shop for the hospital auxiliary, and enjoyed times
at the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club, her two bridge clubs and her monthly
luncheon with Scottish friends. Jessie was devoted to and proud of her six
grandsons; Alexander, Fraser, Graham, Matthew, Rory and Duncan. She loved
and cherished their moms; Helen and Connie. Jessie touched many lives with
her love and kindness. Ross and Colin thank, and are very grateful for all
the support provided to Jessie by her friends, home support workers and
Lambrick Park Church members that allowed her to remain in her own home.
There will be an opportunity to celebrate Jessie's life at Lambrick Park
Church hall (1780 Feltham Road) on Wednesday June 27, 2007 at 1:30 pm.

KIRK, Thomas Earl Born October 2, 1923 in Victoria, B.C., passed away June
17, 2007. Predeceased by his sister Clara Zabrick. Survived by his beloved
family, wife of 60 years Minnie Louise, son John Gary, daughter-in-law
Deborah, sister Effie (Don) Kalberloh of San Diego, brother-in-law Mike
Zabrick, sister-in-law Betty, cousin Harry Gales (Kitty), nieces, nephews, a
loving extended family Pam, Tom, Sophie and Marian, and many life long
friends. Tom served in the army during WW 2 and after the war worked at many
jobs from driving taxi to ambulance driver at dockyard. Tom was a cowboy at
heart working in the rodeos in his youth but his passion was prospecting and
he spent many years in mining exploration. Special thanks to the staff and v
olunteers at Broadmead Lodge for taking such wonderful care of Tom and for
being so kind and respectful to him and to our Paullette heartfelt thanks
for your support and caring. A celebration of Tom's life will take place at
Gorge Vale Golf Club, Saturday, June 23 from 1:30 to 3:30. Flowers

LONGRIDGE, Helene Frances (Leslie) May 17, 1913 June 19, 2007 Peacefully,
following a stroke, Mum passed away at V.G.H. surrounded by her loving
family. Predeceased by her husband Dr. David Longridge (1989), she will be
greatly missed by her sons, Chris (Linda), Paul (Darlene), James (Louise),
and her daughter Daphne (Dr. Ranald Donaldson); her grandchildren David
(Gretchen), Mark (Julee), Michael (Melanie) and Sara (Rene Young); and
great-grandchildren, Rachel and Christopher. Mum was born in Poona, India,
and was raised in Devon, England where she met Dad. They married in 1941,
and emigrated to Canada in 1948 when Dad began private practice here in
Victoria. For Mum family and friends were everything, along with her love of
animals, music, gardens, and fine cuisine. She was a great listener and
storyteller; she put all at ease, taking genuine interest in others. The
family would like to thank in particular Henry Chin and Marlene Lovell for
their ongoing dedication and support for Mum. Special thanks as well to the
Doctors and Nursing Staff on 6C North for their compassionate care. A
tribute to Mum's life will be held at the University Club, University of
Victoria from 4 6 pm on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. In lieu of flowers, please

LUM, Edward Fook Lui Born August 16, 1928 in Victoria. Died peacefully on
June 17, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. It is with great sadness the
family announces the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle and
friend Ed Lum. For many years, Ed and his family operated Ed Lum's
Greenhouses in Saanich. Besides operating a successful business, Ed
dedicated his life to community service. He was a founding and lifetime
member of the Chinatown Lions Club. Ed served on Saanich Council as an
Alderman for ten years, and as Mayor of Saanich from 1974 to 1977. He was
the second Mayor of Chinese descent to be elected in Canada. Ed was
especially proud of his accomplishments in office including the doubling of
parkland and playgrounds, the development of Swan Lake Park, securing the
Canada Post sorting station for Saanich, the creation of the Meals on Wheels
program and initiating the Strawberry Festival. Ed was an elder in the
Chinese Presbyterian Church. Ed was an avid gardener and lovingly tended his
flower gardens. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose, his
children Janice (Ken), Wendy (Bernie) and Mark (Julie). He was predeceased
by his son Glenn (Rita). He also leaves his loving grandchildren Andrew,
Michelle, Ashley, Kassondra and great granddaughter Zoe, numerous brothers,
sisters, nieces, nephews and a multitude of good friends. The family would
like to thank the staff at the Mount Tolmie Hospital for their loving care
and support, and to Dr. M. Saunders. By request, there will be no service. A

MANN, William Tyley It is with great sadness that we announce the death of
Dad on June 14th, 2007. Dad was predeceased by his wife of over fifty years,
Daima, in 1996, and is survived by his children, Kathy (Glen), Margot (Bob)
and Brian (Catherine). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Mark,
Paul, David (Crawford), Anne, Elizabeth, Sarah, Christine, David (Mann) and
John. Dad served as an Officer in the Royal Canadian Artillery during World
War II and was proud to teach accounting at Royal Roads Military College for
many years. He was also a member of Kiwanis for over fifty years and
participated in their meetings for as long as he was able to do so. Dad
practised with "Mann, Moulson" Certified General Accountants until his
retirement at age seventy. He was also past president of the Canadian
Certified General Accountants and took great pride in his participation in
all aspects of the profession. Together with Mother, Dad travelled the world
and was fortunate enough to play golf even in Africa. He was a member of the
Victoria Golf Club for many years. Dad was especially fond of gardening and
each year his flowering border was a pleasure for everyone passing the
family home on King George Terrace. Dad spent most of his final years at
Sunrise Assisted Living and was especially thankful for the care and
attention he received from the staff. His final months were spent at Central
Park Lodge Extended Care and we wish to acknowledge the excellent nursing
care he received. A special thanks goes to Dr. Ted Rosenberg who devoted a
great deal of time to helping Dad in the final months of his life. Flowers
are gratefully declined and in lieu of flowers anyone wishing to do so may
make a donation to the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson's Center, 831 Darwin

MCQUARRIE, Maureen (nee Comer) March 25, 1940 June 15, 2007 Maureen passed
away too soon but while in the company of her loving family. An amazing
wife, mother and grandmother. She will live forever in the memories of
Charlie, her husband of 48 years, her four boys: Ron, Eric, Doug and Greg,
her daughter-in-Iaws: Arlene, Christine, Lisa, and Alison, her
grandchildren, Brieta, Amy, Lisa, Loren, Kevan, Brayden, Rylan and Dallyn
and her many friends and family. Predeceased by her parents Joe and Hilda
Comer, brother Fred, and sister-in-law Nadya. Survived by her brothers
Kenneth and Robert and sister Margaret. Maureen was proud yet modest,
unpretentious, open and honest. She accepted people as they were and valued
integrity most of all. Family meant everything and her house is adorned with
photos and mementos of her children and grandchildren. She loved big family
gatherings; Christmas and birthdays will never be the same without her.
Maureen was born in Victoria, grew up in the Lakehill area, and lived almost
her entire life in Saanich. She was a fixture at the lacrosse box and ice
rink cheering for her boys. She later became a doting grandma and loved
nothing more than sitting on the floor playing games with her grandkids. She
also loved her garden and all animals, especially her dogs and bird. She's
so sorry for leaving you Casey but she's gone to play with Snoopy, Lachlan
and Buddy now. The family would like to thank the staff at the Cancer
Clinic, the Palliative Response teams and especially the Victoria Hospice
volunteers and staff for their compassion through this difficult time over
the past two weeks. The battle was short but she fought hard. Donations in
Maureen's memory can be made to Victoria Hospice. A funeral will be held at
First Memorial Funeral Chapel at 4725 Falaise Drive on Thursday, June 21 at

POTTINGER, Bernice Leone August 7, 1926 June 16, 2007 Bernice passed away at
Saanich Peninsula Hospital. She was a descendent of the pioneering
Pottinger, Humber and Baker families. She was a school teacher for many
years in the Greater Victoria area, as was her great grandfather George
Pottinger. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Clara, sister Velma
Goudie, brothers Russ, Rod and David. Survived by her sisters Claire
Michelsen and June Barker, brother Ed in Telkwa, BC and sister-in-law
Philippa, many nieces and nephews. Rest dear sister. No service by request.

TALSON Elmer and Lenora Married March 20, 1946. Always together, Mom and Dad
left us peacefully. Sharing 61 years together, Lenora passed away late June
17th and Elmer followed 7 hours later, early June 18th. Lovingly remembered
and forever missed by son, Victor Talson (Colleen); daughters, Donna
Flemming and Debra Nikula. They were blessed with five grandchildren,
Melanie Ross (Ed) and Blake Talson in Victoria and Ricky and Steven Flemming
and Karen Paradine (James) in Ontario. Also blessed with four great
grandchildren, Tyler and Elyssa Paradine, and Liam Mazeriego in Toronto, ON
and the blessing of the birth of their fourth great grand child, Kamryn
Maria Ross born last week in Victoria. Elmer is survived by his two sisters,
Ethel Day (Mel) and Hazel Burnett. Lenora is survived by her brother Howard
Fielding (Florence). Elmer, Benalto Alberta, July 24, 1925. In 1943 he
followed his older brothers overseas as a RCAF Tail Gunner (420 Squadron)
and remained in the RCAF for 23 years. Elmer was awarded with the King's
Commendation for Brave Conduct in 1951. Elmer served at RCAF bases in
Ontario, Newfoundland, and British Columbia. He retired in 1968, to Comox,
B.C. where he and Lenora owned and managed Talson Tent and Trailer Park. In
1973, Elmer and Lenora moved to Victoria and enjoyed many years as Snowbirds
in Arizona. Elmer will be remembered most for singing, yodeling and playing
country music on his guitar with Lenora on bass singing by his side. Lenora,
Simpson, Sask. Sept 11, 1927, was a loving mother and vibrant woman. Her
lovely sense of humour and spontaneous smile is truly missed. Her enthusiasm
for gardening and appreciation of nature is an inspiration to all. Service
to be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, on
Friday, June 22nd at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family request

THOM, Ellery Passed away peacefully on June 8, 2007 at the age of 64. He is
predeceased by his son Trevor, his mother Aurelia Thom and his best friend
and brother" David Andersen. Ellery is survived by his wifey of 43 years,
Harriet, and his son, Martin, both of whom will miss him immensely. O for
the touch of a vanished hand, and the sound of a voice that is still!"
Tennyson He also leaves his sisters Audrey (Vic) Downer, Sharron (Vern)
Gray, Blue (Jerry) Lauzon and Charlene Thom as well as nieces, nephews and
extended family. After living in Prince Rupert for 25 years, Ellery returned
to Vancouver Island and spent the last year living his life to the fullest,
enjoying his fishing, gardening and feeding the birds. A memorial service
will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 1:00 at St. Mary The Virgin Heritage
Church, 4354 Metchosin Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the

WALKER, Barbara Ann (nee McCallum) May 20, 1915 June 14, 2007 A longtime
Victoria resident. Predeceased by her beloved husband, William Walker and
survived by her two sons Gavin Walker, of Vancouver, B.C. and Brian Walker
of Whitehorse, Yukon. Barbara was born in Montreal and became a Librarian at
McGill University's Redpath Library. She married William (Bill) on June 18,
1938. Barbara brightened the lives of everyone she met with her fashion
sense, intelligence and love of music and the arts. Barbara will be sadly
missed by her two sons, her relatives and her many friends who will never
forget her smile, her beautiful eyes and her stunning beauty. We as a family
are grateful to Dr. Chris Pengilly and to the staff at Royal Jubilee
Hospital for their support and care. There will be no funeral by request.

WALLACE, Donald Barclay 1909 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce
that Donald (Don) Wallace passed away on June 16th at the age of 97. Born in
Halifax, Nova Scotia he was the only child of the late Herbert Wallace and
Florence Barclay Wallace. He graduated from Acadia University with a B.A. in
1931. After receiving his M.A. from the University of Toronto in 1934 he
joined the staff of the Financial Post. In 1935 he was employed by the
Canadian Pacific in Montreal and was involved in special transportation and
economic studies. He was Company representative at the hearings across
Canada of the Royal Commission on Federal-Provincial Relations and the Royal
Commission on Coal. He served as Administration Manager of the Atlantic
Ferry Bomber Services in 1940-41, which later became the RAF Ferry Command.
In 1942 he was appointed Assistant to the Vice-President of Canada Pacific
Air. During 1943-44 he was involved in Special Representative company duties
in Ottawa. He joined the Department of Public Relations and Advertising in
1945 and retired as General Manager in 1972. During his 37 years with
Canadian Pacific he was engaged in a variety of promotional programs in
Canada and abroad related to its land, sea and air services. He was actively
involved in developing the Canadian art and decorative theme for the
transcontinental train, The Canadian" and was responsible for the design of
a new Canadian Pacific corporate communication program. He served as
President of the Association of Railway Advertising Managers; Chairman,
Canadian Information Abroad Conference and was a life member of the Canadian
Railway Club of Montreal. He moved to Victoria in 1998 and until his death
at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on June 16th, he resided at Joan Crescent
Manor. The family would like to express their thanks to Anne-Marie and her
staff for the excellent care he received there during his final years.
Special thanks go to Surinder, Lisa, Irene and Jessica. He is predeceased by
his first wife, Eileen Mae Kelly, his second wife, Mary Lockhart, his son,
James, his half-sister, Peggy Winsby (Ken) and his half-brother Doug (Jean).
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Wallace, his son, Robert (Ena) and
grandchildren Dr. Jean Wallace (William MacGillivary), Bruce Wallace (Brenda
Macevicius), Janet Wallace, Anne-Marie Simoneau and Valerie (Peter) Saunders
and great-grandchildren Celeste Macevicius and Jay Wallace and his
half-sister, Kay Archibald. A private service will be held. If desired,
donations may be made to Acadia University or the charity of your choice.
