BARNABE, Eileen December 3, 1918 September 4, 2007 Born in Derry, Northern
Ireland. Predeceased by her husband, Eugene, in 1977. Lovingly survived by
her sons, Sean (Jo-Ann) and Kevin; grandchildren, Shane, Christopher, Kelsey
and great-grandson, Luka. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September
11, 2007 at 12:10 pm at Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Burial to
follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Vincent de

CLARKE, Arthur Norman 1915 2007 Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September
17th, 1915, passed away suddenly on September 2nd, 2007. Norman is
predeceased by his sister, May Harrison, and survived by his loving wife,
Connie of 61 years, his son Brian (Vivienne), daughter Gillian (Peter), his
brother Les, his grandchildren Emily and Melissa, nieces Pauline and
Beverley, and nephews Laurie and Paul. Norm served in the RCAF and, after
recevng his wings, spent some years in England as a flying instructor. After
the war, Norm was a long time employee of the Provincial Government in the
Parks Division as a draftsman and later as a Parks Planner, designing many
Provincial Parks and recreatin sites before retiring in 1980. He was an avid
fisherman, gardener and golfer, and a long time member of the Uplands Golf
Club. Norm loved the outdoor life and earlier years, he and his brother Les
spent many hours fishing and hunting, together with his black lab, Fyre.
Norm spent his last few years as a resident of Douglas House where he was
able to visit Connie often at Douglas Care nearby. The family would like to
thank the staff at Douglas House and Douglas Care for their ongoing support
for Connie and Norm. A larger than life character who had a generous and
loving heart, Norm will be sorely missed. A celebration of Norm's life will
be held at First Memorial, 1155 Fort Street on Saturday, September 15th,
2007 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Society
of B.C. would be gratefully accepted. 407476

HUTCHINSON, Rosalie Emma Passed away peacefully on August 30, 2007 at Mt.
Edward Court after a very full and happy life. Rosalie was born in Digby,
Nova Scotia on November 1, 1908 and moved to Victoria, B.C. in 1948. Rosalie
was predeceased by her parents and 10 siblings. She leaves to mourn her,
brother Glen (Jean) and 2 sisters Marjorie Murray of Nova Scotia and Faye
Knight of Florida. Funeral Services by First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155
Fort Street on September 13, 2007 at 2:00pm. A private internment to follow
at Royal Oak Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria Hospice
or charity of choice. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Mt.

MATTHEWS, Jack E. Lakefield, Ontario April 6, 1928 September 7, 2007 Jack
died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 7, 2007. He is survived by
his wife and partner of 56 years, Jane (nee Gillespie); sons Angus (Sandy)
and Tam (Jan) and grandchildren Alec, Christopher, Geoffrey and Alison. A
visionary educational leader, Jack served as a teacher and Headmaster at
Lakefield College School in Ontario; founding Director of Lester B. Pearson
United World College near Victoria, BC; founder of the Trent University
International Program and a Board member of the Peterborough Canoe Museum.
He was a dynamic and much loved presence in each of these bold endeavours,
touching the lives of so many students, colleagues and friends throughout
the world. The classrooms he really loved to share were the rivers, lakes,
mountains and oceans of Canada where nature shaped his soul and nurtured his
grand passion for life. A memorial service will be held at Lakefield College
School on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to
the Hendren Funeral Home, Lakefield, Ontario. Donations in memory of Jack
may be made to the Jack and Jane Matthews Scholarship Funds established at
Lakefield College School and Lester B. Pearson College. 407508

SCHELLENBERG, Ellen Late of Victoria, formerly of Vancouver, passed away
suddenly on September 6, 2007 at the age of 84 years. She leaves to cherish
her memory her loving family, daughters Anne (Kevin) and Norma (Brian),
adored granddaughters Amber and Atlantis and numerous other relatives and
many dear friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband Shelly in 2000. The
family extends a special thank you to the staff of 3 West in the Royal
Jubilee Hospital for their care of Mom and compassion for the family. A
memorial service will be held on Friday September 14, 2007 at First
Memorial, 1155 Fort Street Victoria at 2:00 p.m 407518

SHAW, Jane (Garrett) 1915 2007 Jane Shaw (Garrett) was born in Sheffield
England. She immigrated to Canada with her family when she was seven and
while growing up lived in both Toronto and in Canton, Ohio. She passed away
on August 19, 2007 in Saanichton, BC. She and Frank married, and as a
couple, spent most of their amazing lives in Welland, Ontario, where Jane
was active in the Rotary Club with Frank. Jane was also involved with The
Women's Auxiliary at the Welland County General Hospital and at St. David's
Anglican Church. Both loved to travel and they did widely. Jane and Frank
moved to BC in 1999 to live in their home on the ocean where Frank died in
2001. Jane leaves her; children, Brenda MarinLink (Roland) of Sidney BC, and
Kevin Shaw (Suzanne) of Ottawa, Ontario; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Marin
(Christine) of Langley BC, Jennifer Janzen (Robin) of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan, Jason and Byron Shaw of Ottawa; and four great grandchildren,
Sophie and Kate Marin, and Natalie and Emmitt Janzen. All her offspring have
a great sense of pride and love for their Mother, Grandmother and GiGi.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 24, 2007 in
St. David's Anglican Church, Welland Ont., and at 11:00 am on Friday,
September 28 in St. Matthias Anglican Church, Victoria BC. A luncheon will
follow after each service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Welland
Rotary Club, St. David's Anglican Church in Welland, Ontario or the Saanich
Peninsula Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Garden in Saanichton would be
