CARBERRY, Ronald August 27, 1921 December 2, 2007 Passed away quietly and
peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a short battle with
cancer. Ron is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Joyce, his
son Ted (Brita), daughter Christine (Neil) and his two grandsons, Luke and
Braeden. He is also survived by his brother Fred (Audrey) in Newfoundland,
sister Hilson in the USA, brother-in-law Albert, many nieces and nephews
throughout Canada and the USA. Ron was a native of Newfoundland, leaving to
seek the adventure of Canada in 1949. He left Newfoundland but it never left
him. His distinctive accent and memories of his birthplace enriched all of
our lives. Ron's trade of electricity carried him to many places across
Canada, finally settling in Victoria in 1951, moving to Duncan in 1965. He
took early retirement from BC Hydro in 1980 to enjoy his time on their farm,
raising Hereford cattle for 30 years. He and Joyce retired from that venture
in 1994 and took on another project developing a hazelnut orchard. He was a
true jack of all trades; there was nothing he couldn't fix or build. He
willingly shared his knowledge and skills as he was a great teacher with
even greater patience. Although he was in much pain for the last few weeks
of his life, he never complained and even then he was still trying to finish
off yet one last project. He was a quiet leader and a man whom we will never
forget as we all loved him very much. His family would like to sincerely
thank the nurses Cathy and Janet and other care workers who showed such care
and compassion. With their support we were able to keep Ron's wish of
staying at home in his final days. A tea to honour his memory will be held
on Monday, December 10 between 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Silver Bridge Travel
Lodge in Duncan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to: www.firstmemorialfuneral.com

LAGACE, Harvey Paul DFC, CD COL. (Ret.) RCAF/CAF 1940 1975 1921 2007 Born in
Winnipeg on February 22, 1921, Harvey died of complications from pneumonia
in Vancouver December 3, 2007. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed
by his beloved Heather (nee Flack), his wife of 61 years, and his cherished
daughters Susan Lagace of Vancouver, Sandra Lagace of Seattle, Shelley
Molinari and her husband George of Burnaby, and their children, his adored
grandsons, Giordi and Luca Molinari. Predeceased by his parents Amanda (nee
Lacerte) and Wilfred Lagace, he is survived by his younger brother and his
wife, Germain (Gerry) and Joyce Lagace of Montreal and his sister and her
husband, Lorette and Guy Bourbonniere of Ottawa, as well as several cousins
and Lagace and Flack nieces and nephews. Harvey was a lucky man, which he
knew, and had a wonderful life, which he enjoyed and appreciated. He
graduated from College St. Boniface and joined the RCAF in 1940 and spent
three years in England as an air gunner; he was awarded the DFC for his 58
missions over enemy territory. Harvey remained in the RCAF/ CAF for 35 years
and enjoyed an interesting and successful career, which included obtaining
his pilot wings in 1949 and postings in Germany and France, including Paris
where he was military attache from 1966 to 1969. After sharing his career,
Harvey and Heather retired to Victoria BC in 1975 where they settled in Oak
Bay, and Harvey became a member of the Victoria Golf Club where for 23 years
he and his regular foursome played several times a week. Harvey and Heather
moved to Vancouver last year to be closer to their daughters and grandsons.
Harvey loved politics, sports, the Canadiens, gardening and wine but his
family was the center of his life; and he theirs. He was an engaging, loyal,
kind, positive, handsome, charming, loving, funny and wise man until the
end; and he remembered his fallen comrades, colleagues, friends, extended
family and golf buddies often and fondly. He lived a noble life. At his
request there will be an informal family remembrance; condolences may be
sent to the family at and any contributions in his
memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be most appreciated (1212

STEPHENSON, Trudean Dorothy "The Queen " Passed December 2, 2007 at 3:20pm
It is with broken hearts that our Best Friend, Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister
and Aunt has passed on to the next journey of her life. Trudy was born on
Saturday, July 16, 1932 (she always told everyone 1930 because it was
easier) to Lauder and Dorothy Ramsay and her big brother Hugh. She attended
St. Margarets School and made everlasting friendships there; Garda Johnstone
and Joan Darlington, just to name a few. She attended UVic for a short time
after graduating. She had a few jobs before working for a private X-Ray co.
She worked there for so many years that we lost count. Her friends from work
were also held dear to her even after she retired. She enjoyed her
retirement with gusto, but she finally gave into the fact she needed a
nitch. She became part of the RJH Ladies' Aux. for many years. She became
co-convener and they had record years under her "head & eyes for a deal"
leadership. She was totally gaga for things "Asian" as her decorating style
showed. She excelled as a Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She
was always there for you at the "drop of a hat." She was the most generous
and loving person that anyone of us ever knew. Her love of life was immense
as was her love of travel. Her love of her babies was huge and Sophie,
Donna, Lucy and Sammy were her blessings. At Trudy's request there will be
no funeral but a gathering with all her family and friends at the "Queens
Park" on Beach Drive, (beside the Oak Bay Marina) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday,
Dec. 30, 2007. This is not to say good bye, but so long for now, and what a
privilege it was to have known her and had her friendship in return. Flowers
are gratefully declined, but make a donation to the charity of your choice,
for Trudy! My God, you shall be missed! 429971

stories of her life and her love of the ocean. Special thanks to Central
Care Home where Joan lived for the last 7 years. Also thanks to Bev
Johnston, Harold Smythe and Dr. Linda Ottley for their kindness and
friendship over the years. No service by request. 430103

companion, her dog Foxy. Diane lived in the moment, her sense of humour
staying with her even in the toughest of times. Her laughter will live on in
all of us. She enjoyed sewing and was well known throughout the craft fair
community in the Cowichan Valley. A Celebration of Life will be held at
Somenos Hall, 3248 Cowichan Valley Highway, on Sunday, December 16 at 2:00

determined to live to 100 and made a valiant attempt having never been
hospitalized until two days before he died. Rough and gruff on the exterior
he was a softie at heart. Thanks to the staff at Luther Court for their care
and support and making a home for Russ during the past few years.
Remembrance to be held at a later date. Condolences to
