ESCUDE, Victor Manuel May 28, 1951 July 7, 2007 Vic passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his loving
parents, Manuel and Dolores; daughter Teress (5 months), her twin
brother (died at birth). He will be deeply missed by the most
important loves of his life: his wife, Dianne; daughters, Nicole
(Chris McKay) and Danielle. Survived by brother Javier; sister Maria,
her sons Anthonio (Margaret), and Tim. Vic and his family would like
to thank their many friends for their love and support; in particular,
best friend and `brother' Dave Fletcher; best friend music buddy Al
Patey; mother Martha and Prytula clan with whom he always felt loved,
supported and respected. Vic leaves behind many treasured friends and
family and was thankful for all the blessings bestowed on him during
his life. We thank his medical team for their superb care and Father
William for his spiritual guidance. Vic immigrated to Canada from
Spain with his family when he was a young boy. He lived in Ottawa then
moved to Victoria. Vic enjoyed his teaching and vice-principal
experiences in Kelowna and greater Victoria. Vic was a great athlete;
he loved soccer, tennis and working out with his buddies. He played
soccer for the Gorge Football Club, UVic, on the 1974 team that won
UVic's first-ever national title, and the Kelowna Willow Inn Kickers.
Vic made many life long friends that he cherished until his last day.
He loved to play guitar and sing old rock `n roll songs with family
and friends, students and teachers. His love for music inspired many
people around him! Nothing mattered more to Vic than his role as a
loving husband and father; he was `untouchable' in both those areas.
He was a very kind person, a wonderful listener, and easy to talk to.
Vic believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect. He always
had a smile, a twinkle in his blue eyes, a story to tell, and was
ready to laugh. His sense of humor will be remembered and cherished.
We are so lucky to have been blessed with him in our lives. It is
unbearable to think about life without Vic. We all admired his
determination, strength and courage. He enjoyed every moment of every
day and encouraged those around him to do the same. Vic absolutely
loved life and could not believe what a wonderful world we live in.
His life was full of love up until the moment he died. At the end, he
was thankful for his strength from God and died with dignity, peace
and grace. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 12, 1:00 pm. at
St. Joseph The Worker Church, 785 Burnside Road. Followed by interment
at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive; followed by a reception
to share stories and celebrate Vic's life back at St. Joseph the
Worker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brain Tumour
Foundation of Canada, 620 Colborne St., Suite 301, London, ON N6B 3R9,
or BC Cancer Foundation, Suite 600-686 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC,

GRAINGER, Robert Keith C.D. November 6, 1935 June 12, 2007 It is with
profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother,
uncle and friend in Victoria, B. C. on June 12, 2007. Keith was born
and raised in Moose Jaw where he attended King Edward, Ross and A.E.
Peacock. After a short time with the C.P.R., at the age of 19, Keith
decided to join the navy. Following basic training in Halifax, Keith
served at Edmonton, Cold Lake and Naden. Keith served aboard 8 navy
destroyers: H.M.C.S.' St. Therese, Oshawa, Margaree, Assiniboine,
Qu'Appelle, Chaudiere, Yukon and Saskatchewan. Keith was a very proud
and loyal member of the armed forces. Keith received his 25 year
certificate upon retiring from the navy in 1980 and then continued to
serve at the C.F.B. Esquimalt Tool Crib. When Keith decided to finally
retire and no longer punch a clock, he had served for 40 years. Keith
had a love for a great story, whether it was one-on-one, a great movie
or factual stories of W.W.II. Keith's large collection of historical
war volumes have been donated and accepted by the base library at
C.F.B. Esquimalt. He was passionate about human rights, our civil
liberties and was a very proud Canadian. Keith was easily engaged in a
political discussion and was deeply affected by our current losses of
service men and women overseas. He shared his unique sense of humor
and kindness with everyone he met. Above all, Keith was intensely
loyal and generous with his love for his family. Distance was never a
hindrance for Keith to send his love to us at home. Keith was
predeceased by his father, Robert James (March 22, 1971) and his
mother Agnes (February 14, 2001). Left to mourn and deeply miss our
brother are Ian and wife Vi of McLean, SK, and sister Muriel and
husband Colin of Moose Jaw, SK. Keith was a kind and generous uncle to
Heather and Dan Owens and family, Brent and Monika Grainger and
family, Brenda and Mitch Bauck, Pam and John Foster and family, Chere
and Shawn Gilbert and family and Dave Howard. We will treasure and
hold dear our memories of a very special man. Our brother, our friend,
our protector, we will miss you more than mere words can convey. As
well as his loving family in Saskatchewan, Keith will be dearly missed
by his special circle of friends in Victoria that he met on his daily
rounds. Special mention to his best friends Rose and Mirek Prusa, his
other" family at Chapter's and his long time friend Jim Munro and
those he touched we have yet to meet. Cremation was performed and his
ashes, along with a beautiful bouquet of his favorite roses were
scattered at sunset on the Pacific Ocean at Victoria, BC. McCall Bros.
