KNIGHT, Jean Elizabeth (nee Woodward) August 13, 1924 March 10, 2007 It is
with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mom, who
lost her long and brave battle with cancer on March 10, 2007. Predeceased by
her husband Frank (1998), her dear friend Lloyd (2002), and her brother
Lorne (1985), she will be dearly missed by her daughters Denta (Don), Arla,
and Lynne (Doug), grandsons Darin (Kelly) and Mark (Heather), five great
grandchildren, her 'oldest and dearest friend' and sister Iva Woodward,
sisters Marion Kasha and Margaret Grosland, sister-in-law Glady Knight, many
neices and nephews, and countless dear friends and neighbors in Victoria,
Venture Out, and across Canada and the States. After a happy, hard-working
life on the farm in Bentley, Alberta, with summers of family travel, Mom and
Dad moved to Victoria in 1968 to begin a new chapter of their life. Mom
worked in a bakery, then launched a new clerical career with the provincial
government, enjoying her years in the Parliament Buildings. She made
life-long friends wherever she went. She loved bridge and lawnbowling in
Victoria and in Arizona where they spent each winter for over 20 years. She
enjoyed entertaining and a busy social calendar was important to her. Her
family and network of friends meant the world to her. In recent years she
cherished her new circle of friends at the Oak Bay United Church Thrift
Shop. The church was a very important thread throughout her life. As Mom
lived her life, she was an example to all of us with her genuine love of
people, zest for life, positive attitude, sense of humor, fairness to all,
dignity, commitment to do what was right, and most recently her courage. The
Matriarch of our family is gone from us, but wonderful memories and our love
for her will live in our hearts forever. The family is very grateful for the
wonderful care Mom received at home and in Hospice, with a special thanks to
Silvia for her care and love given to Mom. A celebration of her life will be
held at Oak Bay United Church (Gardiner Hall), 1355 Mitchell St., Victoria,
on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 4:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu
of flowers, a donation in Mom's memory may be made to the Oak Bay United
