BAUMANN, Egon Born in Bollendorf, Germany on August 15, 1913. Passed away
peacefully in his 95th year at Glenwarren Lodge, Victoria, BC on February
22, 2008 where he had enjoyed kind and compassionate care for several years.
During his business career Egon was a prominent and successful member of the
Automotive industry. He served as an officer with the Victoria Chamber of
Commerce and the Better Business Bureau. Egon participated in Rotary and
served as President of the Oak Bay Rotary Club where he received the Paul
Harris Fellowship Award. Egon had a passion for classical music,
particularly symphony and opera. His outstanding generosity to the musical
arts in the Capital Region was legendary and appreciated. Cremation has
taken place and there is to be a fitting and appropriate celebration of

DYNOWSKI, Maria It is with great sadness that the family announces the
sudden but peaceful passing of our Mother, Maria Dynowski on Sunday,
February 24, 2008. Mom was born on September 15, 1926 in Palahicze, Poland
and immigrated to Canada via England in September 1953. She was predeceased
by the love of her life, husband, Wladyslaw, in April 1991. Survived by her
daughter, Danuta (Glenn); son, Jan (Susan); stepson, Mike (Enga);
grandchildren, Jacquie (Glenn), Austen (Tasha), Jeremy (Amy), Susan (Peter),
Robert (Christine) and two precious great-granddaughters, Rachael and Kylie.
Mom was a founding member of the Polish White Eagle Association and since
Dad's death had built a very close friendship with the members of the Polish
Seniors Group that met every Tuesday. "Mom, we know Dad will hold you in his
arms until we can all be together again." A Funeral Mass will be held at
Sacred Heart Church, 4040 Nelthorpe Road, Victoria, BC on Tuesday, March 4,

FRASER, Donald Dana April 17, 1914 February 25, 2008 Born in Revelstoke, BC,
and passed away at Broadmead Lodge, Victoria. Survived by wife, Marjorie
(nee Horth); children, Donna Fraser, Kathryn Watson (David), Leonard Fraser
(Rita); grandchildren, Gillian and Andrew Watson and Adrienne Fraser;
sister, Lotus Ruckle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don grew up in BC's
Lardeau District and on Salt Spring Island. A Canadian Army WW II veteran
(1939-1945), he was one of the original members of the Duncan 62nd Battery
(later 44/62nd Battery). In England, he served with 4LAA/13th Field Regiment
until 1944. Shortly after D-Day, his unit was engaged in action, assisting
in the liberation of France, Belgium and Holland. Memorial Service will be
held at St. Michael and All Angels' Anglican Church, 4733 West Saanich Road
on Monday, March 3, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank the staff
at The Lodge at Broadmead for the wonderful care provided. Flowers

GIBSON, Helen Maud Peacefully on February 26, 2008 in Victoria, in her 90th
year. She is survived by her cousins, John (Patricia) Gouge, Anne Lind,

(Calvin) Johnson, Joan (John) Aalhus, Maureen (George) Guillotte, Dana Jean

Wednesday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Royal Oak Burial

GIESBRECHT, David (1923 2008) David left this world much as he lived his
life on terms of his own choosing. After saying his goodbyes to his family,
David, born September 8, 1923 in Mulin, Ukraine, slipped away peacefully in
the early morning hours of February 28, 2008. A distinguished veteran of
WWII and successful entrepreneur, David operated Avenue Furniture in
Edmonton for many years before bringing his family to Victoria in 1974 where
they operated Brentwood Bay Boat Rentals until his retirement. Left to mourn
his passing are cherished wife of 58 years, Elsie; daughter Diana (Ed); four
sons Ren (Shirley), John (Jan), Dan (Renee) and Philip (Shannon);
grandchildren Theresa (Sean), Bradley (Cathy), Aaron (Alison), Heidi (Alex),
Karina, Rhys (Angela), Tayah and eight greatgrandchildren. A memorial
service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive on
Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. Many thanks to Dr.
Bosenberg and staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their compassion and

GOLDBURN, Jack R. 1922 2008 Died after a short illness on February 13, 2008.
Survived by his loving wife of 57 years Doreen, daughter Chris, sister
Verena, brother George and families. Jack worked for three decades in the
oil industry in Western and Northern Canada and around the world. He retired
in 1981 to his bit of paradise in Parksville, BC. He will be missed for his
ironic sense of humor and dedication to work and family. He volunteered in
his community. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus & the
Mid-Island Esso Annuitants. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Eagle
Park, and Drs J. Walker and Atherton. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday,
March 6, 2008 at Church of the Ascension, Parksville, followed by a

GRASA, Nikola (Nick) Was born on August 12th, 1935 in Gornikie, Croatia and
left this world on February 9th, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. after a brief battle with
cancer. His final days were spent at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital with his
companion Isabel by his side. Besides Isabel, Nick is survived by his
daughter, Kathy and grandsons, Connor and Alec of Victoria, B.C.; his son,
Johny of Crofton, B.C. and numerous friends residing in Vernon, Kelowna and
Chemainus. Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at
Bethel Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with
Reverend Father Martin Peyton officiating. A Reception will follow in the
Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. At the conclusion of the Reception,
Nick's cremated remains will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley
Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send

peacefully in Victoria on February 21, 2008. Hilde is survived by her

IOANNIDES, Hannelore (Hunnie) January 23, 1937 February 28, 2008 After a
long battle with cancer, at home, Hunnie passed into the light, her two
beautiful daughters by her side. She is survived by her loving daughters,
Veronica (Tod) Morton, Sylvia (John) O'Farrell and her precious
grandchildren, Megan, Sinead and Sean. She is also survived by her loving
sister, Brigitte Schultse and long time friend Alex. She will be missed by
many more. A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of Truth,
111 Superior Street on Monday March 3, 2008 at 4:00 pm. A pot luck reception
to follow immediately after in the church hall. In lieu of flowers,

KEYS, Valerie (Val) Barnwell Passed away peacefully February 23, 2008. Born
in Bath, England in 1916, she was predeceased by her husband David in 1986
and is survived by two sons Bill (Cleo) and Toby (Cherie), three
grandchildren Graham (Dagmar), Edward and Valerie and one great
granddaughter Femke. She led a remarkable and adventurous life and was an
inspiration to all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Holy
Trinity Church 1319 Mills Road, North Saanich on March 8th, 2008 at 2:00pm.

MARSHALL, Robert Victor May 19, 1959 Feb. 2008 It is with great sadness that
the family of Robert Victor Marshall announce his sudden passing in New
Westminister, at the age of 48. Rob grew up in Victoria and attended View
Royal Elementary, Shoreline Jr. High and Esquimalt Sr. High schools. Rob
will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Cory, Morgan, and their mother
Marilyn; his parents, Alex and Dianne Marshall; his brother Ric Marshall;
his sisters, Jennifer Wilson (Barry), Barb Wyatt (Mike). Rob will also be
fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Private memorial will

MILLER, Beverly Anne (nee Harris) It is with great sadness that we announce
the passing of Beverly Anne Miller on February 28, 2008, after her third
courageous battle with cancer. Bev was born on April 5, 1955 and lived the
past 15 years on the Gorge Waterway where she hosted a successful bed and
breakfast. Bev will be remembered for her gentle nature, kind heart, gift of
hospitality, and amazing artistic talents. She was most at peace with her
painting and floral arranging and leaves behind many treasures. Very much
loved by her family and friends, she will be dearly missed and her memory
will live on forever in all of them. Bev is survived by Fred, her loving
husband of 19 years, devoted son Sam, mother Isabelle, brother Gord and wife
Peg Harris, sister Barb and husband Don McCloud, as well as a large clan of
Millers, Steeles and Scheffers. No service is scheduled. A private

MILLER, Laura (nee MacBride) March 6, 1919 February 21, 2008 Our gracious
Mother lost her battle with aging on February 21 in her 89th year. She was
predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Jack, last August. She leaves to
grieve her passing her son Bruce Miller and daughter Gail Hamhuis. Laura was
born in Scotland, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1925. She was
known for Loving work, but not housework", and enjoyed her varied working
career. Starting as secretary at her father's cold storage business, she
moved to the Department of Finance at the Parliament Buildings, where she
met her soon to be husband. After raising two children, she returned to work
and was executive secretary for the Red Cross, National Trust and the
Victoria Art Gallery, as well as finding time to be actively involved as
President of the then, International Toastmistress Organization. Laura then
discovered the game of golf. She and Jack were members of the Uplands Golf
Club for many years. Her wit and charm will be missed by all who knew her.

NEWBURY, Edward William It is with gratitude for a life well-lived that the
family of Edward William Newbury announces his passing in the early morning
hours of February 28, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 59
years and his four daughters, Mary (Allan [deceased]), Heather (Robert),
Elizabeth (Bob) and Alexandra (Hod) and his two grandsons, Connor and Liam.
Edward was the grandson and son of a pioneer Nanaimo mining family,
attending schools in Nanaimo and graduating from the Faculty of Applied
Science as an Electrical Engineer at the University of British Columbia,
Class of 1945. He was amongst the first groups of B.C. Hydro Engineers who
were committed to the growth of electrical power throughout B.C. Ed loved
sailing and instilled in all his daughters a profound love for the beautiful
waters of the West Coast and also encouraged a passion for classic
literature. The family would like to acknowledge the remarkable eighty-year
friendship between Ed and Capt. Jack Kirkham and also the support of his
speech therapist, Ms. Gail Poole. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday,
March 4, 2008 at 1:30 pm at St. Philip's Anglican Church at Eastdowne and
Neil Streets, Victoria, B.C. Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for
me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, For

NUSS, Erwin Born July 31, 1923 in Luxembourg, passed away February 23, 2008
at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. He is survived by his daughter Isabella and
loyal friend Joan Griffith, as well as numerous relatives in Germany. Erwin
was a Civil Engineer who practised his profession all over the world. His
final projects were the Provincial Museum and Archives Building, Duncan
Court House and Port Alberni Court House. A memorial service will be held on
Thursday, March 6 at 1pm at Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church, 9296 East
Saanich Road. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of
