ALLMARK, Shirley Isobel Passed away peacefully on April 14, 2008 at her home
in St. Charles Manor in Victoria. Shirley was born on August 12, 1918 in
Kingston, Ontario where she lived until 1977 when she and her husband
retired to Victoria. Many years of good health allowed them to travel, lawn
bowl and to cruise the Alaskan coast on a number of occasions. Shirley's
life was devoted to her husband and her family and our sweet little lady"
will be sadly missed by those she leaves behind. Shirley was predeceased in
2004 by Ben, her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her daughter, Diane

CARSON, Frank S. November 11, 1928 April 14, 2008 Frank S. Carson died
peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Frank is survived by his loving
wife Mary and his children Frank (Primrose), Donald (Connie), Ruth
(Richard), Janet (David), James (Bernadette) and Leonard (Valerie). Frank
was predeceased by his devoted son Dennis (Jerri) and leaves 20
grandchildren who adored and will greatly miss him. As a young man Frank
worked as a farmer, logger and bulldozer operator in Northern Alberta. There
he met and married Mary, his loving, devoted and ever-present life
companion. During 1951, Frank and Mary moved to Vancouver where Frank
secured employment with Ford Motor Co., a relationship which would continue
for 57 years. At this time he and Mary started their family. In 1961 Frank
moved his family to Victoria and with a partner started Suburban Motors. As
a result of much hard work, the business thrived enabling Frank and Mary to
pursue other business interests, particularly commercial real estate
development. Frank loved his community which he felt had been so very good
to him and his family. His record of volunteerism was exhaustive. Frank's
desire to give back to his community eventually landed him on Victoria City
Council. His approach was that of a consensus builder, not a self-promoter,
and eventually culminated with the Victoria Conference Centre, of which he
was very proud. As a provincial director of B.C. Transit, Frank helped with
the creation of Vancouver SkyTrain. For 9 years, Frank served as a director
of the Greater Victoria Hospital Society at the time when the hospital was
built at Helmcken Road. Frank's interests were varied. From boating to golf
to developing a commercial orchard in the Okanagan. But Frank derived his
greatest pleasure from his family. His love and support were unequivocal.
Frank's measure of success was the well-being of Mary and the rest of his
family. Funeral service to be held on Monday, April 21st, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.
at Christ Church Cathedral, 912 Vancouver Street, Victoria, British Columbia
(Quadra at Rockland). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart
& Stroke Foundation of B.C. 460708

HICKING, Anthony George With sadness we announce the passing of Anthony
George Hicking in his 79th year on April 15th. Tony has left behind his
wife, Mollie of 52 years and family, Brian (Louise), Bruce (Pam), Allison
(Alphonsus) and grandkids he loved and was so proud of, Trevor, Lyndsey,
Marissa and always remembered, Chantel. Tony was born at The Vickerage,
Wychbold, Worcs. in England and came to Canada in 1955. His career started
at 16 as an officer cadet with British India Steamships and culminated with
stints on Coastguard weathership, Vancouver; the CPR ship, Princess
Marguerite and finally, finishing his career with the BC Ferries. After
retirement Tony and Mollie embarked on their "Cruising Career ", which he
was quite proud of boasting to his kids that he was up to number 12 and
counting, sailing to various parts of the world as we back home bumbled
through with day to day life, thinking to ourselves, "retirement is looking
pretty good ". Sadly, in the last few years his health deteriorated, but he
fought hard and to our surprise on more than one occasion he rallied back,
emulating that rabbit on tv that just keeps on going and going and going.
But, alas, the power ran out this past Tuesday. You fooled us all, Dad, and
kept your driver's license and stayed in your home to the end. Good on you.
Sail on Dad. XXXOOO. They that go down to the ships, that do business in
great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.

WAY, Peter Anthony Brian Aged 43 Years July 22nd, 1964 April 10th, 2008
Suddenly lost to his family and to a world of friends in a motor scooter
accident on Thursday, April 10th 2008 while adventuring in Central America.
Peter Anthony Brian Way was a wonderful poetic soul who loved to laugh, sing
and dance through life. He was first and foremost a friend and brother to
anyone who knew him. He had a wonderful zest for life which could never be
extinguished. Truly it can be said of this man: "To know him was to love
him". Peter inspired a strong sense of loyalty in everyone he met, a very
rare quality usually reserved for the bravest leaders among us. His wild
abandon and noholds-barred spirit touched everyone with an extra sense of
what it meant to truly be alive. He was always doing that which we all would
love to do were we only a little bit braver. Peter died the way he lived. We
used to call him Peter Pan forever young, forever blissful, forever fun.
Predeceased by his father, Ronald James, he has left his beloved Diana, his
mother Laurel, his family of nine adoring brothers and sisters-inlaw:
Richard and Margaret, David, Ronnie and Hilary, Darrell and Peggy John and
Debbie, and 12 nephews and nieces all shocked and saddened. Eventually there
will be a memorial for Peter, but for now you can visit and register at
www.puttboy.com to share pictures and stories of your adventure with our
beloved Peter. He was so much to so many. The world has a little less light
than it did just yesterday. We love you Peter. In lieu of flowers, please
make a donation at your local branch of The Royal Canadian Legion. Contact
www.bcyuk.legion.ca for a location close to you. Peter loved his Veterans
and was humbled to act as a Canadian Youth Ambassador for Commemoration on
many occasions. 461307
