BUTLER, Elizabeth Wallace Robertson McClure Elizabeth passed peacefully on
July 29th, 2008, aged 92 years. Predeceased by both her husband, Henry
'Eric' Butler, Lt Commander RN, RCN, DSC, in 1986 and her eldest son
Christopher earlier this year. Born in Ayrshire, Scotland, Elizabeth grew up
in Buenos Aires, Argentina and returned to Scotland as a young woman. She
met and married Eric at the start of WWII. After the war she moved with Eric
and daughter Pat to Palestine where Eric was District Commissioner with the
British Colonial Service. The family then emigrated to Canada where
Elizabeth had many roles, including running the family farm, owning and
managing a pharmaceutical importing company, and working as a department
manager with McMillan Bloedel in Vancouver. In her retirement in Victoria
she spent many years as a volunteer with the MS Society and the Cancer
Society and enjoyed wonderful times with her many friends and family.
Elizabeth is survived by Patricia (Robin), Vicky (David) and Gary (Pattie,
deceased) as well as six grandchildren, three stepgranddaughters and two
great granddaughters. Elizabeth's life was one of elegance, grace and
generosity. "The last chapter is closed but it was a great book" A Funeral
Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Vancouver & Johnson St.,
Victoria, on Friday August 8th at 10:30 am, followed by internment at Royal
Oak Burial Park, with a reception commencing at 12:30 at the Scotts'

CORBETT, Betty On July 30, 2008 Elizabeth Louise Corbett known to all as
Betty passed peacefully at home in Victoria. The only child of Mildred and
Ed Corbett. (Ed deceased 1996). Betty lived a full and beautiful life.
Creating many memories with her soul mate, husband Mike Murphy and daughter
Sarah Klassen. Betty enjoyed her life with family and friends, be it road
tripping, kayaking, sailing, camping, hiking, travel, or just sitting down
to share a well prepared and tasty meal. A Celebration of Betty's life will
be held on Monday, August 11th at 3:00 pm., Uplands Golf Club, 3300 Cadboro
Bay, Victoria, B.C. All those whose life Betty touched are welcome to

FORBES, Joyce On Thursday July 28, 2008 passed away at Aberdeen Hospital at
the age of 94 years. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her sons David
Christopher Forbes and Richard Alfred Forbes. A funeral service will take
place on Thursday August 7, 2008 at 2:00pm at First Memorial Funeral
Services, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria, BC. A special thank you to the staff

HARRIS, Jeanne Marie April 21, 1914 July 28, 2008 With heavy hearts we
announce the peaceful passing of our Mom at the age of 94. Predeceased by
her husband Mack in 1999, left to mourn are daughter, Marie (Doug); son, Jim
(Meg) of Victoria; sisters, Julie Braaten of Kelowna, Marguerite Upton of
Calgary and many nieces and nephews. Born in Kipling, Saskatchewan, Mom left
home at age 17 to pursue her hairdressing career, meeting her future husband
at a convention in Winnipeg in 1939. They were married three months later
and lived in Flin Flon, Calgary and finally moved to Victoria in 1955.
Beauticians by trade, they owned and operated Beauty Salons in all three
cities. In 1969 they opened Stretch and Sew Fabrics which is still family
operated. We would like to thank Dr. David Brook and all the staff at Mt.
Tolmie for their compassionate care of Mom. Funeral Service will be held in
MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Thursday,
August 7th at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the Family Centre.
Friends who wish to make a donation may do so to Mt. Tolmie Hospital or the

JAMISON, Elsie (nee Clark) November 12, 1919, passed away peacefully on July
24, 2008. Predeceased by brothers Ab and Bill Clark, husband Jack Edwards
(1976), and second husband Ralph Jamison (2006). Elsie leaves behind many
wonderful friends who will miss her dearly. Elsie worked as Secretary to the
Publisher(s) of the Victoria Daily Times, for 32 years, before her
retirement in 1984. She was also equally dedicated to the Oak Bay United
Church Choir, which brought her many years of enjoyment and friendship. A
celebration of Elsie's life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008, at 2:00
pm, First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to a charity of one's choice, in memory of Elsie. 488736

POTTER, Edwin James Born February 28, 1948 passed away suddenly in his home
on July 23, 2008. Predeceased by his father, James Gilbertson Potter.
Survived by his mother Ethel R.M. Potter (100), son James Edwin R. Potter
(26), and daughter Catherine Elizabeth R. Potter (23). In lieu of flowers

ROBINSON, William (Bill) Alexander Dec. 28, 1930 July 25, 2008 Suddenly in
ICU at Royal Jubilee Hospital surrounded by his shocked loved ones. Beloved
husband of fifty-four years to Bari. Adored brother to Brenda Wilson (Dale)
of Bowser and father to Helen Clarke (Bruce) of Cowichan Bay, W. Douglas and
Jennie Lynne of Victoria. Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces,
nephews, extended family and many close friends. Bill's work life began with
Evans Coleman, continued with Ocean Concrete and he retired after operating
B&B Masonry. A native Victorian, Bill played all sports. He was a 40 year
member of the Capital City Yacht Club and could always be found aboard the
family boat "Consuelo" which he built in the late '60's. Many thanks to Drs.
Dewar and Wood and the nursing team at ICU for their care and compassion. A
celebration of Bill's life will take place Wed., August 13, 2008 with an
open house commencing at 2 pm at the CCYC, 10630 Blue Heron Road, Sidney,

STRANG, Gunhild Katarina Strang Peacefully on July 31, 2008, Gunhild Strang
passed away at Chemainus Health Care Centre at the age of 90 years. Left to
cherish her memory is her son Steve and wife Rose, daughter Chris and
husband Rick, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great
great grandchildren. Gunhild was predeceased by her husband Runar in 1982.
Cremation has been entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services. If friends

VOLLMEIER, Emil Born on January 23, 1919 in Gahwil, Switzerland. Passed away
peacefully at Glenwarren Lodge in Victoria, BC on July 31, 2008 to be with
his beloved wife, Olga. Lovingly remembered by his children, Theresa,
Francis and Agnes; granddaughters, Olivia and Hannah and sisters, Maria,
Agnes, Ida and Anna. Emil's culinary career began with apprenticing in some
of the finest hotels in Switzerland before moving to Canada in 1948. He
worked at several restaurants before he settled into a long career as the
Chef Supervisor of St. Joseph's Hospital, in Victoria. He loved to cook and
catered many functions and special occasions for the Knights of Columbus. He
was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of
knowing him. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Glenwarren
Lodge for the kind and compassionate care given to Dad. Prayers will be
offered at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets on
Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Blanshard & View, on Thursday, August
7, 2008 at 12:00 Noon with a private family interment to follow. Condolences
