Subject: Help needed re: Malartic, Ouebec, mine accident, 1954

Hello List,
New member here. The name of your list intrigued me. I am in need of some
old news out of Canada and hopefully some kind soul out there in cyber
space will be able to help me.
I have a great-uncle, one Josef Tkac, a Slovak, who migrated to Canada in
1928, working the Lake Shore gold mine in Malartic, Quebec.
In 1954, month unknown, there was a cave-in at the mine. I believe seven
miners were trapped for three days. Josef was the only one they found
alive. Of course he was injured and spent time in hospital. I am told
this incident made "all the papers."
If possible I would like to locate a newspaper article on this story.
Anyone have it? How do I go about getting it?
Thank you, Juraj Tkac, Pittsburgh, Pa.
