Hello, My first posting to the list. My GGrandfather was a boatman on the Bridgewater Canal in the 1800's. He is recorded for the first time on his marriage in Lymm, Cheshire in 1878 aged 20. He gave his POB as Glasgow and I have no record of him prior to the marriage. In 1881 he was living at Broadys Cottage, Canal Bank, not too far from Duke's Stables. He died aged 24 of TB but by then he was a Fustian Cutter. Is there any way that I could find him on the canal before 1878? His name was William PHILLIPS. Thanks. Dennis.
Dennis Phillips. We're off to see the Wizard...!
