Chesterfield Canal Society have an excellent web site. The address is

The canal runs from the River Trent, at West Stockwith to Chesterfield.
The canal society are doing alot of work to restore this very pretty
waterway. It is now navigable upto the Norwood Tunnel which is at Kiveton
Park (South Yorkshire) and is also navigable at the other end from
Chesterfield to Staveley (Derbyshire).

I'll not go on - I'm sure the web site will give you lots of information.
