Dear Val,
I am researching all the CUTTS families as part of a One Name Study being
run by Jim Cutts of S. Rotherham, my area being the East Midlands and the
Canals in particular, where we have found several Cutts families - some of
whom were based in Manchester.
I note another researcher (in the US) has Barrow in his family tree in the
areas you mention and would appreciate any information you might be able to
supply.
Francis Cutts, Innkeeper, b.1747 d. 1815 Wilmslow, Cheshire, married
3.1.1783 Wilmslow to Betty Barrow, b. 26.5.1764 Whitegate, Cheshire, she d.
before 1802 and he remarried a Mary Bayley. Francis and Betty had six
children, Job, Ann, John Barrow, Ellen, Francis and Elizabeth Cutts.
Job Cutts had a son Francis, a Print Dealer, b. 22.3.1808 Wilmslow who m.
abt. 1828 to Mar Elizabeth Burrows b. 30.4.1808 Manchester. d. 15.4.1874
Brooklyn, NYork.
We have found other earlier Cutts families who had maritime connections in
Bristol and in London, including Smith and Cutt, Importers of Sunderland,
Newcastle and Stockton Coals into London c. 1820
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mavis Johnson, in Somerset,
born in Nottingham
