Hi Thought I would share my 'find' with you.

By sheer chance whilst looking at the 1871 census for BUSHBURY - RG10 2923
folio 59
I found our Peter Wood & Family, BUT nearly missed them as they were
enumerated as follows (I know they are the correct family).
Boat Sarah
Peter Moor head mar 42 boatman born Tunstall
Hannah " wife " 40 " wife " "
Mary A. Bingley dau Mar 19 boatman wife born Tunstall
Amy Moor dau un 15 boatwoman " "
David Moor son un 1 ---- " "
John Bingley son in law Mar 20 boatman " Stoke
Elizabeth Moor servant " 50 Gen serv " Tunstall
James Brough " un 60 boatman " Stoke
William Bayley " un 12 boatman " Cheshire Middlewich.

Would like to know why the family were enumerated as Moor instead of WOOD?
Why married daughter & son in law enumerated as Bingley instead of BROUGH?
The James Brough I believe could be the uncle to John whose father was
Soloman.
I have no idea who the Elizabeth Moor is should she be a WOOD also?
Last William Bayley from Middlewich, who is he?

8 Adults and I infant on one boat, I can hardly believe it, so I suppose it
is possible that they were towing a Buttie.

One other point is that Hannah was actually born in Middlewich and not
Tunstall, she was in Tunstall by 1841 so I suppose that could be an easy mistake,
but the others!

It just goes to show that It does not pay to give up hope of ever finding
your missing boatpeople.

regards
Maureen
