In 1841 Thomas Gilks was a beer retailer beside the Oxford Canal at Napton
on the Hill, Warwickshire. He was still there in 1851 and in 1861 his
address was Island Home, Canal Side, Napton and he was a grocer and
beerhouse keeper. Thomas was my ggggrandfather and he died in 1864. There
is now the Folly Inn beside the canal at Napton but on the 1884 -1889
Ordnance Survey this is shown as the Bull and Butcher. Are there any
records about this area and the bridge south of the Folly Inn shown as
Gilkes Bridge?

Any information and suggestions would be welcome.
