Thanks for the info on the Allison Mine. I had searched in the past for this information through the National Archives and the info. All I could find through there was that the original four owners of the mine were not known. The description of the four men, from the National Archives, actually fit in describing the Edward Allison that I am looking for. His census 1860 shows he has a ranch with quite a few employees there around Nevada City. From hundred year old publications, and family history he arrived in Nevada City, 1849, a city directory for 1870 shows him owning a hotel in Nevada City, CA. At this point I have not run across any thing that says; Edward Allison returned to Missouri. I have in my possession original reciepts for some very expensive wagons purchased in San Francisco some where in this time frame. Would you have any idea where I should look to find just where Edward Allison's ranch was located? Should the census I have from 1860 give me any clue? Thank !
you so much for your time. Dee
