Carol, I do not think I know the family that you are looking but your
post peaks my interest. My husband's gggrandmother was Martha Jane
Cannon married c1848 Stephen Adkerson in Rockingham County, NC. The
marriage of my husband's ggrandfather list his mother as Jane. My
husband is also off the Nelson line.
